https://newyorkyimby.com/2018/04/ex...-million-harlem-river-yards-mega-project.html NYCFC has a stadium plan on the table and it appears to be the front runner.
Lower quality renderings have been leaking of this proposal the last few days and they were mostly dismissed as fake by supporters. Now this report would be very elaborate for a hoax, so I'd say this is likely a serious proposal. No idea what kind of odds it faces right now.
A 26,000 seat dedicated Soccer Stadium in the South Bronx is too small. They can easily draw 40 k to that site.....
It's not great but not terrible, they're planning on having a ferry terminal link up to it and I don't think it'll be to much trouble to put a metro north stop there so the upstate fans can just as easily get to it as Yankee stadium. The subway stop is a bit far and the area isn't great for walking but I'd expect a heavy police presence on game day so I wouldn't worry. I'd much prefer the site just south of YS but this is honestly a pretty decent spot.
Agreed I think they should have gone 35K to start but I'm not sure you can fit a much bigger stadium at that spot.

Hate to be that guy, but Repeating others: stadium renditions look cool, but just because these were brought to the public eye doesn't make it any more of a reality. If you want optimism, NYCFC continues to evaluate a number of different sites. It's closer to an answer than it was six months ago.— Kyle Schnitzer (@Kyle_Schnitzer) April 17, 2018
As TV Viewing Habits Change, Local Broadcasters Turn to Live Streaming When the 2018 Major League Soccer season kicked off last month, Real Salt Lake fans didn’t have to fly down to Toyota Field in Frisco, Texas, to watch the Claret and Cobalt play its Western Conference rival FC Dallas. They didn’t have to turn on their televisions to watch the match either. Instead, RSL’s avid followers could download Salt Lake City NBC affiliate KSL-TV’s new app, RSL on KSL, and livestream the game on the digital device of their choice. This may be one of the reasons why TV ratings are so low. We're all cutting the cord.
Maybe a matter of semantics, but from other research he was released from FCB with 2 years remaining on his contract. So, he was available on a free transfer. The ESPN article quotes a "major transfer" for NY.
.@BMOField is gonna be rocking, but you already knew that pic.twitter.com/L4kPATKYd0— Toronto FC (@TorontoFC) April 17, 2018
Maybe. But honestly, you don't really build for what you might be able to occasionally draw. You build for what you know you can fill consistently each and every weekend. 26,000 seats would still be one of the largest SSS in the entire league. BMO and StubHub are the only two larger than that just going off the top of my head.
Lol 26k is ok you guys are avg like 24k right already right. Also we all know how NY is new extra people will come out strong just because it's a new stadium should of went with a 30k stadium that would of been better. Lol and look at that sly lowkey dig at Redbulls you couldn't resist could you
Whatever the official tickets distributed number was last season, I doubt there were rarely more than 20k in the stadium. Even with the boost of a SSS I think 26k would be stretching it.
I was thinking if true by time it would be built (2020 season) probably more like 2021 season. The fan base would increase and the league will have improved (keeps improving) that 26k will be too small. I might be wrong, but I think 26k is too small, unless there will be an expansion of the stadium planned in the design of the stadium.
