Am I an elitist for thinking he’s not smart enough to be president?

Those comments were in a press conference with Australia's new prime minister in the context of Australia's decision to join America's latest rendition of the "coalition of the willing", this time against Iran. To understand what Trump is doing, you have to first understand two things that people here refuse to understand: first, the US has no real military options against Iran, relying merely on its conventional forces. As Trump has been repeatedly advised by his military advisers, a conventional war with Iran would be not only a catastrophe and costly in every sense, it would likely spiral out of control and have unpredictable consequences without any assurance of victory for the US. Second, that despite knowing this, the pro Israel/military industrial lobby are putting a lot of pressure on Trump and are basically accusing him of being 'weak' against Iran. In this context, pushed to start a war the US won't be able to finish without going "nuclear", and reluctant to do so, Trump is brandishing the nuclear card to basically cow Iran. It hasn't worked before and it won't work now.

On the context of the comments by Trump:

    https://www.theguardian.com/austral...d-after-trump-raises-nuclear-option-with-iran
For background regarding how the whole 'nuclear card' has been and is being used as an option against Iran even before the attack on the Saudi oil installations:

To be fair to Trump, and at the same time give a sense of how what would have been previously regarded as unthinkable, is now quite common discourse, here is Trump being asked if he was going to use nuclear weapons against Iran two days ago.

The answer might have been a no, but it is obvious Trump doesn't want to give up on the nuclear card since he was back talking
about it again out of context in his meeting with Australia's PM.

They want clear and obvious privilege. And their guns. And a theocracy.

Sadly, this is up for debate. You and I both know people who find their actions honorable.

These people aren't just competitors who know how to get the job done- they're mean, and they've been mean for generations. Thumbing a nose at decades of humanitarian legal work by replacing Justice Marshall with Clarence Thomas. He's probably the only right-wing Black judge they could find who'd harrassed Black and married White. They could have appointed a White, but they went out of their way to snub POCs. Got a twofer to boot with his harrassment. Thumbing a nose at women with the appointment of a (poss... ih... bull) sexual assailant in Kavanaugh. The left, OTOH, has a nice streak that extends to people who are not nice. It's like being a teacher who has to show compassion for the bully just as with the bullied, but in this case, there's no pay in it.

    Being mean helps them win.

He must. But these aren't 1974 Republicans, willing to vote against a GOP Presdident if he deserves it. They will fight and scream Witch Hunt, no matter what the evidence, and will support law breaking by the executive branch in defense. Any amount of law breaking.

Not saying that impeachment should not start, but it will be a farce, because no Republican will in good faith enter the discussion. Yes Amash, he is now an ex Republican.

If you’re talking about Brummie...I’m pretty sure that’s what he says about changing votes. Not changing voters’ minds.

All you need is some ICs in the right counties to think Biden is as corrupt as Dotard, and it could be 2016 all over again.

Democrats are good at shooting themselves in the foot. There are (were) some excellent candidates that aren’t as nationally known and wouldn’t be as easy to scandalise. Of course, they don’t stand a chance as Democrats prefer candidates that are easy targets due to their longevity in national politics.

That is probably why Warren will get nominated, dumbass voters who fetishize outsiders. Not that I am against her but come on. This is how we got Idiot Boy.

Betcha Gary Johnson would have been crap too. His main appeal was his obscurity.

It's not all about corruption. Small government leaves POCs at the mercy of the supermajority, which dawdles and strings justice along on their own timeline.

This link below pretty much symbolizes what POCs are up against. It's not a P&CE post, FWIW, and it's not about POCs, but it pretty much symbolizes the glee with which centrists help hold it all back while claiming to be progressive. "Sorry, but you'll have to wait until we decide you're human enough to be our equal" is about the ugliest thing you can say to an oppressed minority.
