This doesn't pass the smell test to me. While lots of places sell Mexico-branded things* and an ability to speak Spanish would be seen as a positive when hiring, I doubt any major retailer would hire an employee for the floor who did not speak English. That person is either outright lying, or the employee knew they were being watched by someone with an agenda and played to type.

* Target cleverly buying non-official Mexico merchandise so the FMF gets nothing from the sale.

I wonder where he was because a quick search of the Targets closest to the campaign office didn't have Mexico merchandise. They all have some US stuff, but I doubt there is a special display. Most stores have team stuff is in a small section tucked in a corner away from things. The photo is an Umbro display so it's a branded section probably in the middle of a clothing section and not a team wear section. Of course the DC area doesn't actually have a huge Mexican population. The largest latinx groups are Salvadorans or Hondurans. There's no chance a sales person in any part of Virginia couldn't speak English. It's much more likely that he completely made the story up or is an asshole and asked a "Mexican" for help and they didn't help him. There are all sorts of assholes who like to assume people work in a store or even expect others to help them regardless of if they work in a store. The best case scenario is the person wasn't actually sales staff. I have no reason to believe the asshole though.
