http://www.columbuscrewsc.com/news/...ar-mapfre-stadium-close-approximately-75-days Now, if only there was something in or near the stadium to keep fans longer and delay their egress...
This sucks. Like, really sucks. I wonder if you will be able to exit at Hudson and still go across to silver to get into the stadium
It sounds like they're using the ramps to maintain traffic flow, ala 315 a few years ago. This is a bit more interesting and possibly complex, as there's that bit of Silver which crosses through the off-ramp from 71 south. In other words, I doubt it. Maybe get off at Weber and go down Summit to 17th?
Ugh... It looks like this only affects people using 71 south to get TO the stadium? I come 71 N and get off at 111 anyway (and then to leave, go around the stadium to that stoplight at the on-ramp to 71 S). Is this going to affect leaving the stadium to go south on 71?
For people who head north on I-71, will the path through the neighborhood to Hudson still be open? If there is no access to I-71N from Hudson, should we assume that going up to Weber will permit access?
So if I'm looking at this correctly, we can still leave the stadium this way if going south on 71, correct? And if coming from the north, you should be ok. I come from Grove City.
Same way I read it - as long as you're not going West on Hudson to go down Silver Drive to get into the stadium, you're fine. 71 traffic shouldn't be affected.
If you're used to coming 71 N to the Hudson exit you'd be out of luck. If you're used to leaving out Hudson to 71 N you'd also be out of luck. Otherwise you'd be fine, I suppose...
East Hudson Street Closure for Bridge Work East Hudson Street will close over I-71 Monday morning, August 10 well before morning rush hour, for reconstruction of the bridge over I-71, weather permitting. The entrance and exit ramps at East Hudson Street and I-71 will remain open, however traffic will not be able to take East Hudson Street across I-71. See a map of the closure here. The posted detour for westbound East Hudson Street traffic will be I-71 north to East Weber Road back to I-71 south to westbound East Hudson Street. The detour for eastbound Hudson Street traffic will be I-71 south to East 17th Avenue back to I-71 north to eastbound East Hudson Street. Pedestrians should use Hiawatha Park Drive (east of Mapfre Stadium) as an alternate. Expect some evening and overnight lane restrictions on I-71, after 8 p.m. Monday night, August 10 for demolition work. The work is expected to be complete by late October, weather permitting. (ODOT)
Isn't Quarter Horse Congress like mid-October? That's a HUGE money-maker for the Columbus area. Doesn't sound like it would be finished before then...
1st-25th apparently. http://www.aqha.com/Journal/News/20...American-Quarter-Horse-Congress-Schedule.aspx
Closes the day after the fair ends. Not a coincidence. It's like when the 315 bridges were closed. They wanted them open for OSU graduation, even though that meant inconveniences for the first few football games. Pick your poison, as they say.
So if you come from the north, and leave to the south, you'll be fine. However, since probably 99% of folks leave in the same direction they came from, that likely applies to virtually nobody.
Well, I'm coming from the south, so go up one more exit and circle back around. Not the end of the world. Leave 10 minutes earlier.
Coming up go past the hudson exit and exit on the next one (whatever that is) and circle back. Leaving i can still take the hudson exit, down need the bridge to so south.
Forget that for a second, I can't believe the city wasn't able to hold this off til after the Quarterhorse Congress... Shocking I tell you, shocking...
Yeah if he had a player like Pirlo this would not happen. I bet Pirlo could rebuild the bridge with just one perfectly weighted pass where it would hit the bridge exactly right that the atoms would reform into a perfect bridge. Once the quantum flux settled in 5 minutes the bridge would be drivable.
Weather-related? Approximately 75 days after the QHC would push the construction into January... Something about pouring concrete at that time of year?
ROTR. (I kid, I kid.) Agreed. There'll be quite a few horse fans that won't be pleased. This decision is certainly a head-scratcher.
