Tony Tchani was a good defensive midfielder, but has apparently stopped caring and just walks around. Kevin Ellis is a mediocre fullback, who got suspended by SKC after (rumor has it) taking a sh*t in Graham Zusi's locker. Both are being released mid-season by a Chicago team that is essentially (because of DC's road-heavy schedule) in last place in the East with a 0.96 PPG. Pass.
Sucks to hear about Tchani, to think we were talking about him vs Ike Opara in that draft. at least opera is making a good solid career with SKC, hes become a darn good player. Would be happy to have him back.
Is it the salary cap that is preventing further trades and free agent signings or is it the stubbornness of the coaches and GM too look elsewhere?
To a front office role possibly. I don’t think I’d want to sign a player to a roster who hasn’t played in about two years. Plus would the league allow us to sign him given they somewhat want to wash their hands of any future treatment/contract obligations that would entail.
28 defender playing in the UPSL, who played most of his career as a journey-man. With time split between MLS and USL, I’d rather we give our Reno players a shot over him. Paul Marie or even our HGP defender would be better options for the future.
This comment about someone being a journeyman reminds me of Tom Fox’s emphasis last night. He is anti-journeyman. That would explain why Dominic Oduro is the only MLS signing since the new regime. Maybe we need a name for this new regime. Like Quakes 3.0?
Yeah, I thought that was a telling comment he made. So instead of journeyman who know the league and have some proficiency we are going to continue to stockpile players who never play because they're still not ready?
Meh, tough to take your opinion too seriously then. I’ve seen klute play quite a few games in mls at lb and he was always at least adequate, which would be a huge step up for us in that position.
We’ve had Shaun Francis play for us at MLS level. Not that I’d want him back, but atleast he’s USL level. If you want to read about Paul Marie, we have plenty of friends on our RenoFC thread that give great recaps and highlights of games.
I think Paul Marie has looked pretty good playing in the midfield and that is his position. They don't seem to be working on converting him to fullback that I've seen any evidence of. He he's to have a good mind for how to attack and a good shot.
Remember when we almost signed this guy, back when Chris Leitch was making front office decisions before they hired Jesse?
