I'm told that #Quakes74 are poised to sign former #NYCosmos midfielder and U.S. youth international M Eric Calvillo.— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) January 19, 2018 Only 20 years old. Would be a good pickup.
This has got to be one of the most eventful offseasons in recent memory, yeah? I can't recall having this many players moved around in a long time, especially moves that seem like they'll have genuine impact.
Wonder what Yamil Asad's shelf life is now in Atlanta after that United confirms Ezequiel Barco's record transfer. Sounds like many #MLS clubs — including #MNUFC — interested in complex acquisition of Asad.— Andy Greder (@andygreder) January 19, 2018 "Sounds like many #MLS clubs — including #MNUFC — interested in complex acquisition of Asad."
Our roster building is almost done. My guess is someone like Chicago or Portland (who have traded away Accam and Nagbe), that have cash to spend and shoes to fill now are the type to look into this.
Once Calvillo is announced, the next big news I hope to hear is that Dawkins hasn’t reported for camp. The supplemental draft will come first but those will be guys that aren’t likely to sign or they might just pass so that’s small news.
I think we are as ready as we are gonna be going into this season. we have like, 37 midfielders on the roster right now. Now we watch the positional battles.
Report: DC United strike agreement to acquire Yamil Asad D.C. would send at least $500,000 in allocation money to Atlanta for Asad's MLS rights, according to sources. D.C. will also pay $300,000 in loan fees to Velez for Asad, with an option to make it a full transfer for another $700,000 at the end of the season – matching the $1 million buy option on Asad's contract with Atlanta United last year. D.C. would then use Targeted Allocation Money to buy down the Argentine's cap hit for the 2018 season. ... Asad featured on the left wing for ATLUTD in 2017, a spot that Zoltan Stieber has been expected to play in for Ben Olsen's team in 2018. Asad would also battle Luciano Acosta and Paul Arriola for playing time in United's setup. Damn, I would have loved to have Asad... and DC doesn't even have to buy him now, they have the option at the end of another year-long loan...
Is this guy relevant at all? I hope so -- I'm just saying I could go on twitter on post that too. Because he said that Zlatan was coming to SJ on Jan 30....
He said welcome to MLS. He only put the #Quakes74 so anyone who searches #Quakes74 would see his post, not that he was going to SJ.
No one believes this, but it's out there, so... There are Quintero to MLS rumors, and we were linked to him last year. He had a pretty nice goal for Club America tonight https://streamable.com/bavxa
That announcement was that Godoy and Jungwirth got green cards: https://www.sjearthquakes.com/post/...en-cards-no-longer-occupy-international-spots
Seems unlikely to me (beside the obvious cost stuff)... unless Magnus isn't working out for some reason.
Yeah I don't see it happening. I think they'll save whatever [cap space + unused TAM / GAM (from not having to buy Dawkins or Wondo down) + roster spot] they received from the Dawkins buyout for a possible addition this summer. But it think it might be less than a DP. My best guess is that one of Cummings or Quintana will be a disappointment and they'll acquire a CB, hopefully someone better than Affolter.
Age and current roster situation makes Quintero seem unlikely. There may be a couple of other MLS teams intersted, and maybe our name was relinked because they heard MLS and made an assumption. But who knows.
My understanding is that they have enough TAM/GAM to buy down Wondo and enough cap space for another DP. I am looking forward to another acquisition in the summer.
I think we even have two senior roster spots open? Could even get two reasonably quality players rather than one DP.
