Get your sunglasses, sunscreen, flip flops, and beach towel. The season is over and we retire the first glorious TFC thread on BigSoccer. Here we will discuss summer news on the transfer market, and pretty much anything else we feel like discussing. Off-topic discussions are strongly encouraged.

So....who is this Santos guy exactly??

EDIT: If anyone would like to access the first Toulouse thread which covered the 2004-05 season and had a lot of general background on the club, you can find it by clicking below:

Striker from Sochaux apparently. Hopefully he can help Moriera score before the 75th minute and provide some depth to our attack.

Born in Brazil, but he played in Tunisia a few years ago, and took tunisian nationality. I guess he felt he could not play with Brazil NT and choosed Tunisia. From what i've read, his nationality was somehow "arranged" by tunisian federation.

Played 31 games this season with Sochaux, scored 9 goals.
Won the african nation cup with Tunisia in 2004 (4 goals).

(i wonder if he can speak arabic :p )

Yes, I know he played for........Espérance (I think.....)

Its funny the naturalisation process though. You probably have to point to Tunisia on the map or something. The thing has become so badly maligned over the years. I think there's another one called Clayton who plays for em as well.

No, he isn't Tunisian, he was making a sarcastic joke about the "origins" of the not-so-Tunisian Santos... ;)

I spent 2 weeks in Mahdia some time ago ... very nice city and people ... if I recall correctly, it's in that area.
there's an old roman amphitheater in the area too but can't remember the name of the city it's in.

No not really, if I said it to you - you would have got the sarcasm.

Anyways, I was reading reports in the local rags today, that is suggesting that the Laurent Robert deal to Tolouse is on and off at the minute.

The main stumbling block is the transfer fee it appears, with Newcastle wanting slightly more than £3m.

I think he is a libaility myself. Amazing talent, but falls asleep in most games.

I'm not sold on Robert either. Like eating Chinese food, you get full, but then hunger comes back way to quickly.

Midfield-wise we're ok. We just need a replacement for Dalmat the Mercenary. Santos should help out up front - not that we needed much help with Moreira and the promising (reality?) Psaume. If we had a strong attacking midfielder, we'd be golden. Defense is ok too. It depends on how much of a quality jump we want to make. Are we going to qualify for UEFA?

More importantly, are we actually going to play beyond week 28 next season?

Where's Dalmat going now? What potential that guy had.

I don't know where he's going. He probably assumes Inter is going to pick him up, but nobody told him Inter is not interested.

Suarez never got a chance at Toulouse. At this point, he is surplus. We have Moreira, Santos, and Psaume, not to mention Da Silva.

The guy was a major prospect when he played at Cannes. I was living in Nice in 98' and the guy was really being hyped. Never has fulfilled his promise has he.

Yeah I'm not sure to what extent it's due to him not having much space at Toulouse at least. Then again, if he would have done something with the space he had, he probably would have earned more of it.

    :) Very good news.

Just before the French Cup final, Toulouse beat Lyon in the Gambardella Cup final, the biggest youth competition in France.
I say beat but in fact they trashed Lyon 6 - 2 !!!

Great news for the TFC future.
