2 players worth a damn today and that's pretty much it. dembele and toby the only ones who earned their pay, IMO
Just to summarize the performances against the Top 6 on the road... ...and the Champions League road games were worse. If we manage to lose to Fulham...
I sort of had a not so positive feeling, but still it was unbearable at moments. probably the worst game of the season. the best of all is it's gone and spurs have to look forward to the next game. hopefully not such disgrace repeated anytime soon.
Here is what I posted after the Boro game in preparation of the Anfield trip: 1. Hopefully, we don't go there thinking we can stroke the ball about the back with their high press. 2. I hope we sacrifice some of our "easy on the eye" football to play a little more direct and get on their back 4 and keeper who are a real shambles right now. 3. Play on the counter. All the pressure is on them, the longer they don't score, the more frustrated they'll get and start making mistakes. 4. Take a good look at the video of both Manchester away games and not do any of what we did there! Well, so much for that... Naive, naive, naive. Poch's tactics were absolutely suicidal - to go to Anfield and try to play a high line and play out of the back against a pressing team. Did he not learn anything from the 2 Manchester games? We must pray for the return of Jan and Rose, because Dier and Davies are a total shambles. Now I see why Poch moved Dier into midfield. Our best football this season was with a back 3 , but now that we've been forced to revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation, we have created virtually nothing in attack, with just 1 goal from a pen in the last 3 games. To be fair, Liverpool's best players were their best players, while ours didn't show up. At least this will end the ridiculous title talk nonsense - this team is a million miles from winning a title.
The only good thing I Can say about this match is that I recorded it on DVR, so I was able to save a lot of time by watching on fast forward after the second goal. I never expected to win, but I expected a lot better than that shit performance. I don't get why the team implodes like this - most of them have played in the world cup or the euros, they should be used to big games.
If we had players that were confident, had pride, and believed in themselves, we would be at 4 points behind chelski right now
I wouldn't get your hopes up. Did you see the sides he picked for rounds 3 and 4? He'll play a weakened side like he always does and we'll get knocked out at some point - same goes for the Europa League. And then he'll talk about how important it is to win trophies at his press conference.
Actually, I think this is Poch, not the players. Somehow he needs to get the team to play well when there is a lull. Whether that is figuring out how to motivate, or working with Wimmer, something. Also, I think Wanyama might need a break. I cannot remember the last match he missed.
