Looks as if we have two different teams playing the same 11 players - one for the games in Eredivisie and the other for the CL games. Go figure. Most probably they are just tired and in need of rest.
A tough match on a windswept pitch and poor defending on one of the two corners won by AZ decided the match. The ball could not be cleared and it fell to Guus Til who slotted the ball home for the only goal of the game. All the Ajax shots on frame were well saved. Some of the Ajax players are looking very tired these days and the loss of Ziyech early in the first half didn't help things much. Squad rotation is important for teams playing as full a schedule as Ajax are but ten Hag just doesn't seem to believe in it unless a player is clearly hurt. I don't know how much longer Tadic can keep his batteries humming. Schöne is too slow and was beaten several times. Five points down now with six to play may be a mountain too high to climb. Player Ratings: Onana (6.5) - made some good saves but fumbled a couple of balls which may have been a result of the wind Tagliafico (6.5) - great clearance off the line in the first half to save a sure goal Blind (6) - some indecision on his ball handling de Ligt (6.5) - had a screamer that Bizot parried aside Mazraoui (6) - decent enough Schöne (4) - really not good enough on the day de Jong (5.5) - he has to step up and show why he is worth the money Barca paid; today was not it van de Beek (6) - had some good touches but could not help unlock things Neres (4) - surprisingly quite poor Tadic (4.5) - really looked tired both in the middle and on the wing Ziyech (5) - had to come off after 20 minutes Dolberg (4) - another one who has to step up and did not Lang (6) - has great speed but is he good enough with the ball Huntelaar (5.5) - had a good header after coming on that was well saved Our CL opponent in the next round, Juventus, came out very flat today and without CR7 in the squad lost 2-0 to Genoa
PSV play terrible , but still find a way to win. Ajax play terrible, but cant find a way to still win. There's your difference
Ronaldo only gets a fine, no suspension: https://www.voetbalzone.nl/doc.asp?uid=348550 If you wanna get an idea as to how important he is for Juve, have a look at these stats: 1 - Goals in the knockout stage of the Champions League:Real Madrid - 170...🇵🇹 Cristiano Ronaldo - 63Arsenal - 53🇦🇷Lionel Messi - 42Dortmund - 38Paris - 38Porto - 38Lyon - 34Atlético de Madrid - 33Inter - 33Monaco - 33🐐 🐐. pic.twitter.com/kqh9iWijab— OptaJean (@OptaJean) March 14, 2019
5 players expected to leave Ajax this summer ( Matthijs de Ligt, Nicolás Tagliafico, Hakim Ziyech, André Onana and David Neres): https://www.voetbalzone.nl/doc.asp?uid=348672
Stengs should be a must in the summer. I also think Ajax can bring Koopmeiners, Michel Vlap and Jerdy Schouten to reinforce the team. For the rest of position maybe foreign talent.
Selling 5 players should give Ajax in the neighborhood of €150 to €200 million, that should be plenty of money to buy foreign talent
Ronaldo just left the field injured during the Serbia game: https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/3347643/ronaldo-valt-uit-met-blessure
there is a report that Ajax are purchasing Romanian NT midfielder from Standard Liege for €12M. Don't know much about him other than he is 22 and starts for their NT.
Apparently Overmars has contacted Heerenveen about Kik Pierie. this would be a great acquisition and he likely would start next season with Blind moving to LB to replace Tagliafico who likely will be sold. Also looks like FC Emmen keeper, Kjell Scherpens, will sign and loaned back for an additional season.
Onana signed a new contract and extended to 2022 so he will be with the club next season. Neres previously signed and extended and I think he will stay as well. Tagliafico has rejected a new contract and with Hernandez moving from Athletico Madrid to Bayern for €80M he might end up moving to Madrid. de Ligt may announce next week his intention.
Ajax catch a break. Ronaldo questionable for the first CL leg: https://www.ad.nl/europees-voetbal/ronaldo-mist-drie-wedstrijden-duel-met-ajax-onzeker~a6fc6845/
I would like a defensive line of Mazraoui __ Schuurs__ Pierie___ Blind next season. looks so promising, though it may take a while for them to develop the needed chemistry. On the other hand, I would argue that Groeneveld can be a big upgrade over Neres! https://t.co/JBB4J87XyY
From what I've seen of him in the Jong Ajax so far , I"m not sure Schuurs has what it takes to be a senior team player. But he may be a late bloomer, who knows.
I watched a couple of minutes of the match. Ajax was awfull. Passing abysmal etc. On top of that the ref helped Ajax by red carding a opponent defender while he clearly only hit the ball and cleared it and after that the Ajax player tripped himse;f over the defender's leg and made a performance as if he had been mowed down. Unbelievable. Was this line up a weak one, giving the very poor playin the minutes I saw? Couldnot bear to watch more.
Dont you think he is just a raw talent at 18-19 and with Van Der sar at the helm could become one of the best if he comes to ajax. In between ohana has extended his contract so I dont think this transfer will eventuate any more.
