Cech can last another season. We should keep Ospina, and make him future number one, he's borderline world class.

I don't think we need a centre back, but aleft back/left wing-back is imperative.

Keep the Ox, and get a tough-tackling midfielder, and Lacazette up front. If Alexis leaves, replace him with Lukaku. We may have to change our style/formation somewhat, but it's more tactical changes and mentality changes we need, not new players.

Numerous outlets now claiming that Kolasinac is finalized. Will join 7/1.

Gibbs seems like a nice enough lad, best of luck to him.

No way Gibbs would stay as cover? Seems like he might be a not-so-totally-driven-to-reach-the-pinnacle type of guy, who might be satisfied with his lot as backup??

What's the dope on this Kolasinac guy anyway?

Younger Monreal, basically. Knutson was surprised to hear that Man City were interested because he thought technique was too inconsistent.

I haven't watched Kolasinac play, and he doesn't look all the impressive in highlight reels, but he is free and has potential. This is exactly the sort of transfer we should have been making in recent years.

At least he can make it to the highlight reels unlike nacho and gibbs. Sead is gonna walk into this team no problem.

Since most of you guys didn't watch Europa League or Bundesliga this or any season i can see how you wouldn't know how much of an impact he has been for Schalke. Some of you guys need to step outside your epl bubble.

Arsenal to sign Schalke's Sead Kolasinac on free transfer

Price is right and it's good to get it done early. As usual the questions abound about whether or not there are more deals to be done, specifically about areas of need. Also, while the Xhaka deal was also done early it took a long time for him to be fit into the side. Hopefully this move won't be the same.

If you're Kieran Gibbs, which scenario is the bigger "F*** You?:

    a) Club signs a 3rd player at your position for £20M
    b) Club signs a 3rd player at your position on a free

Monreal is better as cover because he can play wide or in the back three; Gibbs can start for most of the teams in the Premier League, just not for a team with title aspirations (although it could be argued that WE don't have title aspirations), so I can't see him staying to be the left back version of Debuchy when he can get a starting job elsewhere.

    Intriguing. I honestly don't know.

Arguably the freebie feels more insulting but I'd like to think even he would understand "Free means free," so that's kind of tough for any club to turn down.

Surprised more players don't do that.

Only thing they have in common is that they both are left footed and play left back

If Gibbs didn't realize it was coming then he's as dumb as he is underwhelming

And Kate Upton doesn't need to pay for drinks. The joys of being privileged.

Being "better" than Monreal/Gibbs means what exactly?

I guess it defines how you define "better," but peak Monreal was really good. A shutdown left back who could defend an entire wing on his own.

Hummels was our academy player he was always gonna come back sooner or later, imagine if hummels went to manure instead:sick: and as for lewa dortmund decided not to sell him in January to other clubs so we took advantage cuz our sporting directer was a boss.

^ Lewa wouldn't go anywhere else. Madrid put in an offer iirc.

As for kolasinac, I don't particularly rate him but he kept robben in his pocket in the ruckrunde game schalke/bayern. Would've come in handy if arsenal made champions league next season.

Anyone on the soon to be relegated squads that interest you?

    Sunderland
Pickford - could be a solid young backup and future successor for Cech.

    Middlesbrough
Gibson - not seen him play but seen us linked.

    Hull
Robertson - might be a solid LWB backup if both Gibbs and Nacho opt to bail
