It was an utterly disgusting performance from us. And I put that fair and square on Higuchi by playing it 'ultra-safe', using a defensive midfielder in Shunsuke's postion. We had 3 ball winners - tacklers, breakers up of play in Nakamachi, Ogura and Tomisawa - in the midfield but no-one capable of carrying the ball forward and linking with the players upfield. Hence we continuously turned over the ball around or before the half-way line. Even accepting that Sato Yuhei wouldn't be able to do as good a job as Shunsuke, we should have stuck with the same system, placed a little faith in the younger players. After a few appearances earlier in the season where he didn't show much for all his energy, Sato had played well when covering for Hyodo recently. No wonder we're losing players like Moriya who want to go somewhere and actually have a chance to play. Higuchi's substitutions just re-inforced the problems: struggling to keep possession, he brings on a striker. And a striker who in particular is prone to losing the ball. Then with only 10 minutes left and the game virtually done, he takes off Hyodo to bring on Sato, despite still suffering the same problem of not being able to keep the ball and still having 2 defensive midfielders on the pitch (Fabio having replaced Tomisawa a little earlier). No mistake about it, Higuchi panicked in the face of not having the player he depends upon the most. I can't even complain about the ref (unlucky pk call on Bomber, and no call on Danilson barging over Saito in the box, just for starters) or Grampus' gamesmanship (ie grassrolling) as we were so bad, and it came down to the manager's selections and approach to the game. I'd rather we came out positively about how we want to play the game and go down fighting than have that kind of timid approach. IF Higuchi wins a title this year, it will be the only one he ever gets, and heaven help Marinos when we need to re-build in the next year or two. Oh, and thank you ever so much Sendai.
But you guys have been rebuilding for how long now? "Retiring your veteran players to cut on the wages etc..."
Good question. We axed 8+ players at the end of 2010, including a club legend who deserved better, in the name of re-building. That was under Kaetsu and Kimura. Under Kaetsu and Higuchi we brought in two more 36+ year olds, one of whom on massive wages. The problem is that Higuchi plays the same 11-13 players and that's it, there's little squad rotation, little chance to bring on the next generation. It might bite us in the arse this season or not, but it will definitely bite us in the arse once Nakamura retires. We've just signed Amano Jun who could play the Shunsuke role the future (who knows), but I doubt he'll get much of a look-in. I could see Kaetsu/Higuchi signing some veteran playmaker (on a large wage) instead of trying to develop one in-house. All the while we lose more money season to season (up to $16million last financial year). In all these regards I'm as critical of Kaetsu and Higuchi as anyone else.
honestly...Enomoto;Kobayashi,Kurihara,Bomber,Dutra;Nakamache,Tomisawa,Hyodo,Shunsuke,Saito;Marquinhos -Fujita,Ogura, and one of Fabio,Narawa,Hanato as sub. Nothing else, except for the occasional suspended player, from the start of the season. Got to say that the physical coaching staff did a fantastic job to keep the troop (indeed not the youngest around)always geared up and healthy...
He'd probably have won the match for us if he'd been justly awarded the pk that he earnt. That with the assist for Hyodo, Grampus would have been on the back foot. He passed a medical check on Sunday morning, apparently. I think he'd have just flown over and not got on the field anyway, it's a good decision to stay home and get to full fitness.
But there are things like Dutra playing when there are Higa and others in the wings the entire season. Idk man. Dutra aint bad, but he aint that good to be forcing him ahead of young relatively talented player from the home school. And so on and on But you know what if he wins the championship no one will care jack, when next year you are out of top 5 they will all say, should have revitalize the squad sooner. I partially agree. If he goes and wins it with this, he made the right choice. As long as he next year goes for younger guys and restructure. If he messes up with playing old timers, than he was in the wrong
Yes, exactly. Its damn frustrating for a fan, imagine what it must be like for those fringe players. It's incredibly short-sighted and conservative. (re: GK, at least, Iikura had a serious illness to come back from, Rokutan had a couple of runs when Enomoto was injured against (by) Sendai, Suzuki had a leg injury -break? - to recover from. We brought a kid up from the Youth team in the first half of the season) That's true. Also, from what I've read, Bomber and Shunsuke are pretty switched on when it comes to how much they know they can/should do. They don't overdo it at training, but then there are times that they stay back and do extra - it's as much knowing your own body and knowing you can't keep the same intensity in training throughout the season.
I don't disagree at all! I've been down on Dutra since he was signed. He's doing a passable job, he's a likeable fellow, but he's not so extraordinary that we should be disregarding Higa, Kanai and Narawa. The problem is that Higuchi's modus operandi has been the same all along, if you listen to Omiya Ardija fans. He sticks to what he knows, he sticks to the few experienced players that he trusts. He's not the right person for a rejuvenation. Once his stalwarts are gone, he'll take us close to relegation, I'm afraid. You'd be silly not to build a team/system around Shunsuke, given the form that he's produced since the second half of last season. But you still have to give other players a go. There shouldn't be a need to play Shun for 90+ mins every game. Bomber has had an occasional off-moment, but generally has been good enough that his name keeps coming up in solutions to JNT's defensive problems. He's been more consistent than Kurihara. I was critical of Marquinhos' signing, but Akitod was right in that he still had something to offer. But at around $1mil/season, you have to wonder if persevering with Kazuma might have been just as good an option? Dutra's re-signing is a wtf move, nothing less. It's an all-in gambit playing all the oldies. Playing 2 of them, particularly if one of them is Nakamura Shunsuke, is sensible.
Unless, that is, your game plan involves said 35 year-old play maker playing 90mins per game for 40+ games in a season. That's just asking for trouble.
He's not going to Europe as a pre-cautionary. It's not like Asshataroni was going to use him anyways.
Picking up plots, moving the GK nets, bringing the water bottles ... He had a lot of responsabilities.
What trolling? Playing that match aggravated his injury in the end, it ain't going to help Marinos too if he misses the next one...
he wont miss the next one. The reason he is not in the JNT is so he wont aggravate his injury and miss the next one, that is the point

Yeah, because the team it's very poor lately..and the coach benched some key players in the last game. He played with ogura and mikado in the centre of the midfield...these two were very poor.
