We don't give racist memorials to those who take hundreds of thousands hostage in exchange for a promise to be a decent human being

Again, a good portion of the border is river.

Stop getting excited about political theater.

Personally it pisses me off to no end exactly BECAUSE it's political theater. Anyone with a brain knows building a wall the length of the border is stupid as ********, and Trump doesn't likely care about it anyway, other than that it represents winning. Meanwhile the repercussions of the shutdown are very real.

How about full amnesty for the dreamers? ¥ou can then have the funding for your stupid wall.

Not fiscally sound, but from a humanitarian standpoint it's a good deal. And hell, building the wall will be useless, but it will at least provide jobs for a few immigrants for a while.

In certain cases a wall would make perfect sense. Director Grimes has a plan.

    HAIL GRIMES!!!

That's right. and pretty much every other part of the border that isn't river has a barrier.

None of the threats Trump is bloviating about come across the border in the those areas, they come through ports of entry, which his wall won't defend against.

So if he's going to have a conniption fit about it, he's free to show his displeasure by dousing himself in gasoline and setting himself on fire.

This is why his "bi-partisan offer" was shit.

    Had he come up with:
-- Immediate citizenship for current DACA enrollees
-- A permanent DACA program for children brought here by their parents

Then maybe there is a discussion to be had.

Don’t you think that as an opening offer it was decent?

In negotiations, if your opening offer is ridiculous (I will give you $5,000,000 for Messi) you just piss off the other side, I don’t think the offer is ridiculous unless it’s take it or leave it.

This would make more sense to heed, if the political theatre wasn't holding the government hostage.

It's also insulting to offer something the other side already has -- such as DACA.

His opening offer was not an offer. It was bullshit.

Nothing is being held hostage except the paychecks of federal employees.

The government services provided by furloughed workers are also being "held hostage".

Great. No trash pick-up at the park and TSA might not have anyone show up to work.

More proof our system is broken.

    Yeah, system is working perfectly.

Reality star president holding government hostage over a wall that can’t even be built with unlimited funds.

Democrats won’t even begin to negotiate anything until they get the only thing they really want, more tv time to get their names out as much as possible for the next presidential bid.

    Perfect.

I’m going to prove your post is breathtakingly stupid.

Do you think Nancy Pelosi is going to run for President...ever?

    Source/link for what? My opinion?

I have no doubt you think the majority of my opinions are stupid. I’m good with that.

How do you see this ending?

It was a steaming pile of horseshit. The Supreme Court declined to hear the Trump Administration's appeal of the DACA case, meaning that DACA is in place for one more year at least.

I know that in Ohiostan, you don't really have much in the way of natural beauty that is being protected on federal lands, but here in the West, the situation is a bit more serious that "no trash pick-up at the park."

One of the many problems that the Dems have had over the past few years is overestimating the influence of the punditocracy.

    Completely agree

Sometimes it pays to look at what the enemy is saying and Skeletor Barbie correctly points out that Trump can't on the one hand demand his racist wall but at the same time create a meaningful amnesty for lots of hispanics whom Trump is demonising. The base won't like it.

Obviously they hope to change the narrative via media spin while passing some nonsense legislation in the senate

    Exactly.

No real deal was offered, and no negotiations were entered into - this is just the GOP talking to itself.
