I didn't see any white players in that article (although there may have been one that I missed, just skimmed). So I think that kinda answers your question -- most white Americans either don't think of Donald Trump as a white supremacist, or don't care that he is one, or maybe they do care sorta but not enough to take public sides with those who are non-white. Seems to me we need to talk about this until this situation stops.
I know I am late to the party for this thread, and you've all moved on, but this is the greatest soccer picture ever:
Which surprised me. And not only did it make sense, but it reads like complete support for the players.
This Lebron tweet responding to Trump is burning the Interwebs. It has already been retweeted close to 1/2 million times, twice as many as the next LBJ retweet.
Great picture, but once you learn the real story, .... https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/jul/05/diego-maradona-belgium-famous-photo So, here's the rub; beautiful though it may be, the photograph is intrinsically misleading. Maradona wasn't being man-marked by a huddle of Belgians. In fact, he wasn't even being marked. He'd merely received the ball from a short free-kick from Ossie Ardiles, and the players before him had been part of the Belgian wall, hence their proximity to one another. What's more, Maradona didn't waltz through them, or around them. Instead he attempted to hoik the ball over their heads, but his effort lacked leverage and was swiftly cleared by Luc Millecamps. Yep, Maradona was rather shoddy that day and Belgium went on to win the match 1-0; consequently, the image was initially cast onto the scrapheap and only received appreciation in the years that followed.
While I noticed that, too, the White man in a position of real authority put out a statement of support. To me, that has longer term effects than if somebody like Aaron Rodgers puts out a statement.
Ya know, all this bombastic racism coming from 45 almost seems like there might have been a development in the Russia investigation. I'll put a call in to Mueller to see of anything is up...
OR. The health care bill appears dead, his endorsed candidate in Alabama is going to lose, and he faces the real possibility of ending his first (and possibly only) full year in office with zero legislative accomplishments. Even the most deluded people can see how little of his agenda has been implemented.
Different sport. But the Vince Carter teabagging dunk on 7' 2" lunk o' flesh Frederic Weis is an all-timer.
http://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/someone-just-noticed-that-trump-is-getting-stuff-done/ Trump is busy filling lower court positions with conservative justices. Ron Klain, a White House aide to Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, said that Trump "is proving wildly successful in one respect: naming youthful conservative nominees to the federal bench in record-setting numbers." What else? Well, Trump pulled out of the Paris climate change deal, which as we noted in this space is a yuuuge win for the economy. The EPA, meanwhile, is dismantling Obama's coal-killing, growth-choking Clean Power Plan, and draining the heavy-handed Waters of the United States rule. When a veteran EPA official resigned this week, she complained in a letter to her former colleagues that "the new EPA Administrator already has repeals of 30 rules under consideration," which the New York Times described as "a regulatory rollback larger in scope than any other over so short a time in the agency's 47-year history." /quote
The thing is, Trump doesn't care about that stuff. It's just his way at getting at Obama, plus most of the people he appointed has that agenda. But for Trump himself, he doesn't have the morality to be immoral about the environment. Being immoral means having a morality, of sorts. Trump is just an empty space.
IIRC, every time there has been a news big break in the Russia investigation since Mueller has been appointed, 45 does something bonkers to distract. He has figured out how to shift attention, though most of the stuff he still needs to be called on. But to his base, it is what he is going to implement...and when it doesn't happen, it is the fault of McConnell or Ryan.
Lol... 2002 World Cup quarters. This goal brought the Danes level at 2-2 before Rivaldo finally finished them off
U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain't going! So therefore ain't no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!— LeBron James (@KingJames) September 23, 2017
Can't believe he said that.....He must be in an early dementia stage. Think for a moment what kind of bullshit nonsense universe you have to live on for this not to be completely fucking ridiculous. pic.twitter.com/WURlhOOI9R— Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) September 24, 2017
Y'see, I'm torn on that one. Part of me thinks the guy's right, it's a totally moronic idea. But another part thinks, 'Hmmm... I wonder if that would work?'
See through walls is a stupid idea. You need those one way mirrors that cops use, that way the Mexicans can't properly target their trebuchets onto the American side.
What would work? The catapults? Drug dealers and other traffickers have more sophisticated methods nowadays...The don't live in Middle age.
