You have to give it to North Koreans, they're playing Trump like a fiddle...

    https://www.huffpost.com/entry/north-korea-pompeo-talks_n_5cb84c83e4b081fd1693b22c

The North’s official KCNA news agency quoted senior foreign ministry official Kwon Jong Gun as warning that no one could predict the situation on the Korean peninsula if the United States did not abandon the “root cause” that compelled North Korea to develop nuclear weapons.

The statement came shortly after North Korea announced that leader Kim Jong Un had overseen the testing of a new tactical guided weapon, which KCNA said has a “peculiar mode of guiding flight” and “a powerful warhead.”

It was the North’s first weapon test since talks in Vietnam between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump in late February broke down over conflicting demands by North Korea for sanctions relief and by the United States for North Korea to abandon its nuclear program.

KCNA gave no details on the weapon that was tested on Wednesday but “tactical” implied a short-range weapon rather than the long-range ballistic missiles that have been seen as a threat to the United States.

KCNA quoted Kwon, who is in charge of U.S. affairs, as saying the Vietnam summit, the second between the two leaders, showed that talks could go wrong “whenever Pompeo pokes his nose in.”

I am afraid that, if Pompeo engages in the talks again, the table will be lousy once again and the talks will become entangled,” Kwon said.

“Therefore, even in the case of possible resumption of the dialog with the United States, I wish our dialog counterpart would be not Pompeo but other person who is more careful and mature in communicating with us.

Driving him like a rented car, they are

LOVE this. Love it, love it, love it.
That said, Trump will probably see this as implying that he himself should go.

    Mitch - "Medicare for none."
    Warren - "Medicare for all."
Kentuckian - "I sure do want Medicare, but Warren likes Mexicans and coloreds and Muslims and homosexuals. Go Mitch! Die Bitch!"

To be fair, the southern hillbillies don't like Obamacare because socialism. They prefer the ACA.

Don't tell our centrists. They pride themselves on being hard-headed men of reality, while taking the GOP's side on climate change, the effectiveness of gun control regulations, and health-care legislation -- all positions that the GOP pulled out of its ass, because on those topics it doesn't do science.

So, not actually so hard-headed ... just another flavor of Republican, pay attention to the science even and when it's convenient, otherwise discard it.

Science is just another left wing ploy to try and get people to learn things and accept facts and I won't have that! If climate change is real and jet fuel can melt steel beams then why do monkeys still exist?

p.s. THEY'RE TURNING THE FREAKIN FROGS GAY!

I would just like to point out that this a rather Western/European view. I'm quote sure that many Indians would view the Taj Majal as greater than Notre Dame, many Chinese who would view the Great Wall as more important, and many in Central America who would view Chichen Itza as important if not more.

And I would say that Angkor Wat is as important as Notre Dame.

And to my mind, Red Square/St. Basil's showed up.

Significant differences that I addressed earlier is many of the sites you list are 1) for the elite, not commoners or 2) ancient monuments no longer used for regular daily activities unrelated to tourism. There is a functioning aspect of Notre Dame that symbolically ties common people today with their non-elite ancestors from 30 generations ago that does not happen with most other monuments, in addition to the religious symbolism and components from other aspects of culture and history. That is my opinion, of course.

It seems incredible that people don't understand the symbols and buildings that are important to some people and nations might be less important to others. It is worse than the discussion on operating systems.

Hold off as I need a bit of assistance with a problem I'm having with my TRS-80. There's a big white glob in the middle of the CRT and it's eating my Floppies. Every time I call tech support, before they hang up on me, I hear a lot of guffaws in the background.
