I'm somewhere between you & Gunning on this one. I don't think he's completely done for, but I think it's a bit optimistic that he'd play 20X for us this season. Maybe he'll be like Rosicky, who was serially injured and was written off during many of those injuries, but he actually came back to contribute in a major way more than a few times. Just not consistently for long runs. And if we're honest that consistent quality is what we badly need from our CM/DM at the moment.
I hope Gunning is right, but the track record of players who have knee and achilles injuries in their 30s isn't pretty.
Yup I think his agility in tight spaces is gone If he plays by new year ... it appears to be a miracle
why would he want to come back into this declining shit show?? Don't know what his contract says but I personally would stall as long as I could. If he never plays again he went out on a pretty high note. Loved by the fans, good player, good career. Why come back?
He will be *33* in December! Monreal is 31. Next month Kos turns 32 and Giroud turns 31! Cech is close to the age where Lehmann started his decline, and our "pace" player (TW) is pushing 30. Amazing to see how far we've come since the CL final: 2007 strategy: stack the XI with 20 year old nobodys 2017 strategy: put 11 "has beens" on the pitch
Since October 2016 Santi has gone through 8 surgeries for infections .. skin issues post Achilles injury It looks the grant hill injury and we all know how that turned out after he came back That sucks
Ay yay yay. I didn't know about that. I only knew about the Achilles thing, and how they can be very tricky and long-term to recover from. And actually I don't know much about Grant Hill. Wasn't he that Duke phenom, who never quite reached his potential in the NBA? Was that also because of Achilles complications?
Top level football is done for him Incredibly sad...shame that wenger has not made legit attempts to replace him
If we're going to go to the US, I'd rather hire the Seattle Seahawks' staff. Lots of Adderall for Ramsey and Elneny, plz.
yet again Wumger has placed too much faith in a chronically broken player “In search of a miracle.” “Lost three inches of tendon.” “Had gangrene in the ankle.” Wants to play in Jan. Not a prayer. What a shame. https://t.co/tcqrCGWM3h— Matt Scott (@Matt5cott) November 3, 2017
THey took skin graft from his wrist to put around his ankle. The skin had tattoos on it. He is finished. May get a run out in the last home match of the season, but he is done.
Santi is a real shame Like Rosicky - such a fantastic player but everything went wrong just when he should have been at his peak
The gangrene thing still baffles me. With all the fancy health care he should be receiving, how does he get that???
Remember gangrene simply refers to dead or dying tissue - e.g. because the vessels supplying the blood flow fail. We don't have all the details but after so many operations in the same area its completely possible tissue simply died and had to be cut out This is definitely a risk with infections and bad diseases in hospitals. If your body decides to shut down a critical organ it thinks is damaged then you die.
