Looks like Ricardo will play this weekend against Watford. The squad is down to just 14 fit outfield players.

Oh and just to let you know, Borgetti has left the club.

why sam insisted on releasing players who still probably had a season or so left in them and spent his whole window pursuing only a few players (particularly a striker) is a bit baffling, especially when he buys injury prone players like fortune on an already very-thin squad.

I hear where you are coming from. The whole signing of players and releasing players at Bolton baffles me!

Ricardo started on the bench, but was brought into the action after 35 minutes for Nicky Hunt. Still 0 - 0 a the moment.

Ricardo just 'scored' but goal given off side.

Bolton 1 - 0 Watford. Goal by Gary speed from the spot in the 96th. Vaz Te got an 8 rating from SkySports (best of any player from bolton and tied with highest watford rating) for "changing the flow of the game."

That means he had a very good game then.

He had a man of the match performance. Completely changed the game when he came on for Nicky Hunt.

Lets just hope he starts at home next week against Middlesbrough.

Ricardo didn't start the game today, but came on as a second half sub.

He was basically getting that last season though.

Which is to say that nothing really changed for him. Not better, not worse.

True. But by the second half of the season he was begging to get start. How many goal did he have last season? 6 in all competition?

Bolton's coach not doing a good job of bringing this kid on; he should have followed up to last year's #s by giving him more playing time this year. At least they should loan him to an English II Division team or something...

Nah Joel, he might actually get to play striker on a consistent basis as opposed to being plugged in here and there (primarily on the wing) for ten minutes at time. Playing time is vital to development at such a young age (just 20 years old). The level of competition may decrease a bit, but thats far more bearable than not playing at all.

Very true. Do you think they will actually try to use him at the striker position or the wing position.

Last year he was making very good progress. Scoring a couple of wonderful goals in UEFA. Started a couple games in the Prem. Now its back to second division.

I am fairly sure he is going to play striker since they just lost Jon Parkin, who played striker for them.

Yea, it kind of sucks that he isnt tearing it up in first division, but that is hard to do when you barely see the field. That is Big Sam for you...

He hasn't been good enough to force his way into the first team, end of story.

Hopefully it's a good move for him but it's make or break time, if he fails to impress in the CCC he'll never make it at the top level. However I'm optimistic that he'll do the business and in turn improve his all round play.
