Matematically it is most likely that we will face Liverpool or City, least likely Leipzig. I think that we can beat City but Liverpool NO,they will knock us out, they are too good and the return leg is at Anfield.
They couldn't beat Napoli who have had internal issues in either games so it's not like they are at peak in CL. Anfield second leg is a huge advantage though. I'd prefer Juve or City among big teams. Juve have weak midfield and Sarri's style doesn't suit them. Ramos needs to make sure Ron doesn't do much damage and we have a great chance. City always choke in CL and their defense is a mess.
People forget every time we have played a big team they seemed to mess up, we still have the same defence too
Our season is reaching a bit of an early climax. We have Valencia, Barca, Sevilla, Atletico, the new super cup and Copa del Rey formats coming up in the next two months. We go through this with positive results we can go into the CL knockout rounds optimistic, we fall behind and collect a heavy defeat in one of those and the idea will be that we're in crisis.

It was incredibly stupid that he played against Brugge. However, I've noticed he's had to do far less running now that Zidane as fixed the defensive shape.
No, that is after the break. The down period is from 22/12 to 4/1 and the first game of the supercup is on 8/1
Bruh It's been 335 days since the last time Real scored from a free-kick in a non-friendly game, Ceballos was the last player to be able to hit the net from a dead ball. [@Marca] pic.twitter.com/xOpuHy7NTU— Infinite Madrid (@InfiniteMadrid) December 14, 2019
Indeed. Tbh Zidane is at fault for not assigning a free kick taker order. Let 3 guys take free kicks in some order. It's embarrassing to see Ramos and Casemiro rush and use their seniority then blast it into the skies.
We're ranked very low in efficiency, but also in how many we take. We take a lot less free kicks than other teams from a position where it's a direct shot and not a cross. Ronaldo had a 6% overall efficiency rating from 310 free kick attempts in Spain overall, Messi has a slightly above 8%. The difference is that if you isolate Messi's latest seasons he's climbing the ranks in free kick efficiency, to over 15% which is absolutely world class (i think 22% is the current best). He's clearly spent the last few years working on it as he's constantly improving. So both versions are right, we're not efficient enough, and Ronaldo wasn't even top 10 (possibly top 20) in efficiency. We also probably spread them around too much for a player to have enough free kicks on his feet to rise above others in the efficiency ranking.
Yeah I don't get that by Zidane. Unless Zidane truly believes Ramos is our best which I can't really believe.
This, and it should have happened even with Ronaldo here. He did share a little with Bale, but I felt like guys like James, Kroos, Modric were better at placing a shot in deadball situations based on the wall, gk, angle, etc; whereas we go with the guys who seem to close their eyes and kick as hard as possible. We had legends like Zidane, Figo, Beckham, and R. Carlos sharing free kick duties and throw in R9 and Raul on PK's; and it was never an issue. Its a way to extend your career, heck players make whole careers out of being free kick specialist. Even if you slow down having a good dead ball delivery can compensate, you don't have to dribble past players as long as you can draw a whistle.
Casemiro never takes any short distance freekicks. I don't see what the problem is. He has scored many long range goals, why not take those free kicks. He's never taken them when we are in a losing position like Ronaldo used to do.
Casemiro almost never comes close with his free kicks. He has a strong shot and he's able to catch the defense/gk off guard from open okay; but on free kicks they are waiting with a wall and it's a whole other game.
On that basis, seven clubs have already earned more than €75m from the 2019/20 Champions League. Bayern Munich lead the way with €82m, followed by Barcelona €81m, Juventus €80m, #MCFC €78m, #LFC €76m, Paris Saint-German €75m and Real Madrid €75m. pic.twitter.com/g9Pu2eWW7V— Swiss Ramble (@SwissRamble) December 16, 2019
1206996182637125632 is not a valid tweet id He looks like its going to be a possibility he returns this season
Hope he returns strong and as soon as possible, but we really need to think what we want to do with him. He’s not an elite player, has played very poorly, doesn’t fit into our system and his value has tanked. A loan move is what I’d convince him of, drive his value up hopefully.
