Tangentially related to the current FO: Looks like Wilt took a job with the USL front office.

I thought Kenn Tomasch was pretty good back in the day.

I agree, that’s why I suggest moving him to a pre/post game show but we need to have one first.

in his entire career as a broadcaster, Dan has never shown much interest in getting better at it. That's the only thing that really pissed me off about him doing the games - To me, Dan, it sounded like you never gave a fvck.

I think in England, there's a channel where it's actually fans doing the commentary. I've never seen it, but it's supposed to be pretty funny because they get exasperated and do things that professional commentators wouldn't. It's supposed to be like sitting next to your buddy watching the game.

The whole team needs to be replaced even if they don't speak English imo. You had Dan Kelly who loved the sound of his own voice adding nothing to my knowledge of what's going on and then klopas with infinite knowledge chiming in once every 5 minutes in a bored fashion with something useful. It wasn't fun to watch. Their whole job is to keep you interested. They failed miserably

The next big thing they need to get rid of is the constant ass kissing of the Fire. It’s okay to call the team out on a poor play or performance. Not every bad thing is because they’re unlucky.

This is still one of the best "unintentional" comments by the Fire commentary team by Chris Doran and Fred Huebner:

And the funny thing is that was in 2008, before the Fire actually began to suck.

The Fire were 2nd in the East (3rd overall), had one of their highest ever average attendance years, and made it to the Conference Finals.

For those who don't remember, the Fire jumped out to a 6-1-2 (WTL) record in the first nine games (oddly, the two losses were both at home, they were very good on the road that year), then went on a terrible slide in the middle of the season.

The Fire had a very good team.
Blanco, McBride and Frankowski (never forget).
    Rolfe was top scorer.
Thorrington, Blanco, Mapp, Pause in midfield.
Conde-Segares-Soumare-Prideaux (and, frequently, Gutierrez) in defense.
Pappa, Nyarko, Herron (who was awful that year) off of the bench.

Some of the play that summer was brutal, though, hence the comment above.

Also, 2008 it was Hauptman's first full year and the beginning of the end for the Fire under Hauptman.
Three Club Presidents (Guppy fired, Leon as interim and the awful hiring of Dave Greeley).
The revolving coaches (Osorio left, the rise of Hamlett).
They did hire Klopas as TD, though.

He was an embarrassment to not only the Fire but to the league. There is literally nothing good you can say about Kellys tenure . He is minor league'ish in delivery and knowledge , and made no attempt to improve.

I want to add that on twitter the S8 account is lamenting on how big of a loss he is. I can understand refraining from public negativity, but the post is overboard in adulation and demonstrates IMO the mediocrity thats also infected the organized fan leadership as well.

Considering the fact that Fire Supporter Twitter is a dumpster fire right now, I'm more than OK with them staying above the fray on things like pissing on the grave of a guy who just lost his job.

Once someone you want gone is gone, any more negative said in their direction is wasting energy that would be better put in a positive direction.

He's gone, wish him well, hope for better. No need to keep critiquing after they're out the door.

Bingo. I sent him a tweet wishing him well myself when it was announced. None of us ever know what's going on with people personally outside of the public face of their jobs.

True. For all we know, he could be as awful a human being as he is a broadcaster.
Oh, wait, that is not what you though.

I apologize for my previous post. I was trying to make a joke, but it really seems mean.
I tried, but could not delete it.

Yes. His leaving is not a loss by any stretch of the imagination. It is an opportunity to hire a competent announcer
