There was an article about this in the Doncaster Free Press: https://www.doncasterfreepress.co.u...bring-back-herbie-kane-this-summer-493767?amp The synopsis is Liverpool rejected loan offers because they wanted to keep his development in house this season. Going out on Ioan to get games isn't always the clear cut right thing to do. Look at someone like Chalobah getting loads of Championship games but stagnating and contrast it with someone like Harry Winks who is now a Tottenham regular despite not playing much senior football until his early 20s. Or, for a Liverpool centric example:Harry Wilson went on loan to league one at 18 and got recalled after 3 months because he flopped. Liverpool kept him in the reserves for two years after that before sending him out again which with the benefit of hindsight seems like a good call. That extra growing up meant he hit the ground running in the Championship and earned himself a PL move for this season.
That's not really an accurate summary of what happened to Chalobah. Also, i'm not sure that's accurate about how Liverpool intend to develop him.
It sounds good but I'd argue that after a successful season in men's football , the last thing you need is to go back to u23s with the "intention" of helping his development. If there was no serious Champ interest then I would still find the best L1 club for him. This seemed the issue, as during the summer a number of Champ clubs were linked which may have been fed to media to create interest.
A young lad starting for Brighton today called Steven alzate. Anyone know anything about him and his background? Hes English but with a name like that and his look certainly gives away a foreign connection.
We'll have to wait and see but I don't think he's anywhere near good enough to be playing for them at the moment.
Lewis O'Brien (98) scored from a very good give and go move for Huddersfield v WBA. The finish also very positive into the far corner.
Matchday 1 - 83/220 = 37.7% Matchday 2 - 74/220 = 33.6% Matchday 3 - 75/220 = 34.09% Matchday 4 - 74/220 = 33.6% Matchday 5 - 75/220 = 34.09% Matchday 6 - 69/220 = 31.36%
This is the worst figures so far this season, I think City in fielding one English eligible player hasn’t helped due to Sterling being rested and Stones injured but not sure where the other drop outs are? I think Choudury started last week but benched yesterday. Palace only started two and Wolves one so maybe Bennett was benched compared to last week for Wolves. So maybe I’m missing two more absent players from last week.
Choudhury tends to play when Rodgers wants a more defensive set up. He won't play v Newcastle next week but will be back v Liverpool
