What league did they play in? Actually, good catch but they weren't 100% Canadian sourced - Levon Helm was American. But an incredible group.

Like Ryered said, not pure Canadian. One of my favorites of all times. Saw them live ten times or so including the Rock of Ages show (later released as Live at the Academy of Music) and with Dylan on the Before The Flood tour. They were great on record and even better in person

 

Saw these guys a number of times too. Agreed one of the absolute greatest live bands ever. I still get chills remembering The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.

 

Robbie Robertson's first solo album is pretty good, IMO.

 

Never been a fan of Lanois' production

to each his own. i'm a big fan of Lanois, same with Brian Eno.

you probably don't like the U2 album they produced, All that you can't leave behind.
