Re: Ralston I don't think he's all that...I think he had enough experience to know Mag on the field was a glaring liability. A JV HS coach could see that.

Re: other high priced Jesse players not seeing the field...I'll bet a few of those guys spoke up and questioned the decision making that was taking place...Flo for sure.

    I
I didn't say it was a great plan but it makes a lot more sense than playing someone who last had an assist in April, couldn't play defense and their only move in 1v1 was to fall down.

Someone (I think some sort of agent or scout) contacted me on Facebook about Mikael Stahre asking me what I thought about him....

I explained he was horrible with the Quakes but then many European , Latin and/or foreign coaches have failed miserably in the league. I explained with MLS rules , salary caps and other things in place, he may not have been able to put forth his tactics and thoughts.

He stated he is trying to get him a job Cyprus League. I explained he may do better there but with the Quakes , h0e had no style , tactic or system in place and players didn't seem to respond to him.

I hope Stahre lands on his feet.

He certainly wasn't as good as you reported Falvo and I don't see how he could succeed anywhere really.

I didn't really say anything "good" about him. I mean unless saying "horrible" is the new "good".

He may be good in a Swedish league or in Cyrpus but never again in MLS.....

I doubt he would last a month in Spain, Italy, England or Germany....

Looks like he's lost some weight, and got rid of that goofy looking facial hair...

The Norwegian league is not exactly impressive... but then both the LAFC and Manchester United coaches were developed there ;)

just repeating what (i think) is posted above.

    • Where are they now? Stahre edition: Another former Quake figure update, former head coach Mikael Stahre, has been named manager of Norwegian club Sarpsborg for the 2020 season. It’s his first foray into management since being fired during the 2018 season by the Earthquakes.

So he collected his last Quakes paycheck , lost weight and got another job? Pretty good deal I’d say....

Those darn bearing walls again!! Not holding . What’s a quality coach like Mikael Stahre supposed to do when there aren’t any good bearing walls around!?

The 2023 Allsvenskan season begins on April 1st so it’s surprising Mikael Stahre was fired a month before the season starts.

It’s more surprising he had a job in the first place.

After leaving the Quakes, looks like he had a pretty bad year with Sarpsborg and then a couple of decent years at Göteborg - with about equal wins to losses and oddly not many ties.

English translation of the "Stahre fired" article:

    - The main reason for the decision is that we have not received the development we have desired.

    - Mikael has put in an enormous amount of time and energy for the team to succeed, and we thank him for that. But to get the most out of our squad, a change is now required, says Håkan Mild.

Sounds like they were not that pleased with the progress, to put it "Mildly".

On the positive side, now he has as much time as he wants to Stahre into the future.

Knock knock...is anyone here who can explain why we are talking about Stahre in 2023?
As long as it's a thousand miles from San Jose, sure, why not.

Can we close this thread and move on? In summary, he sucked and will always suck, but we hope for him the best (preferably with Seattle, Portland, LAG or LAFC).
