So what is Stahre's "legacy".... 28 games coached 4 wins, 8 draws, 16 losses Winning percentage: 14% Winless streaks of 7 games and 12 games Eliminated from playoff contention by September 1 Is Stahre the worst coach in San Jose Earthquakes history?
We'll never celebrate someone losing their job. Best wishes in their future endeavors. With this being said, we hope that today's changes as well as the much needed upcoming changes will help the Quakes find their path to success. We'll continue to do our part in the stands. pic.twitter.com/jkSzQ9ZfVn— San Jose Ultras (@SanJoseUltras) September 18, 2018 Nothing annoys me more than this "hate to call for someone's job" thing... as if incompetent people making sh*tloads of money related to a GAME should be above accountability that the rest of us likely have to deal with at our jobs.
I get what you're saying, but really, it's on the Ultras to support the club no matter what. So they can't rejoice in Public that Stahre is gone. Now, who to replace him with? GBS would be good. Obviously, Marc Dos Santos should be on our list. Zoran Savic makes my list too. https://www.sportingkc.com/club/zoran-savic We should look at other assistants too, like this guy: https://www.fcdallas.com/club/marco-ferruzzi or this guy: https://www.fcdallas.com/club/josema-bazan Or steal an assistant from NYRB or Atlanta. But I want someone with MLS experience. Also, I see that Jimmy Conrad is interested. If that's really true, then we should at least talk to him. He was a good player, he's a smart guy, he played in MLS and was briefly an assistant coach with the GoatShaggers (so he must have a license). Unless this is a joke, I'd talk to him. Go Quakes!! - Mark
Agreed. I work in sales. If I don't hit my clearly defined numbers, I get fired and no one gives a rats ass -- nor should they, as I know what I signed up for.
And really, getting fired by the Quakes doesn't seem to destroy too many coaches' careers. A lot of us called for Dom to go, and look at him now -- he'll be head coach of the Galaxy for 6 weeks. Mark Watson also rebounded right away. MLS is an old boys network, so it seems that unless you've made a lot of enemies (like maybe Preki, I assume?), you can stay employed...
Forget Earthquakes history, looks like Stahre is the second-worst coach in MLS history! Armchair Analyst: Stahre's out, and whoever's next in SJ has work to do
Way number 2 has its truths, too. Way number 3 = 1 + 2... That tells the big story. The foreign talent we have brought on is almost all flawed, and a foreign coach did a poor job of mitigating issues.
There's only ONE Scott Sealy!! (Just one L in Sealy.) In '08, Scott played fourteen games for us and scored twice. He contributed. In '10 and '11 he wasn't so good. But the point is to support the team. They might say in private that some player isn't good enough, or that they wish the GM would fire the coach, but they don't say that stuff in public. GO Quakes!! - Mark
Thanks for the link. Stahre was indeed only part of the problem. We need much better team preparation, and at least a few better players, but we are most in need of a better plan. Better strategies and tactics will turn us around faster than anything else. Maybe better practices. Go Quakes!! - Mark
I took the Ultras bus to a game in LA, and they got a lot of mileage out of Scott Sealy jokes, including telling random store clerks "I'm Scott Sealy, the famous soccer player"
Check out the money that Fisher gave out in the last few years! Just to name a few.... $2,000,000 for =Stahre. $1,300,000.00 = Innoccent $800,000= Dawkins. $500,000= MPG. They could have started an Earthquakes scholarship fund and could have wrote it off as a tax loss.....
