The 2010 Quakes made the Conference Finals. That was the most successful team since they brought the club back . I'm not exactly sure why Simon Elliot was waived prior to the 2010 season opener. I think it may have had something to do with his age and the fact that he will have missed most of the season because of the WC. It turned out best though as the team ended up doing even better than 2012 as they fell one game short of the MLS Cup Final.
Kip starts for the New Zealand nation team but can't get any minutes with our main squad. KINNEAR OUT NOW!
Exactly what I said.... https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/the-official-kip-colvey-thread.2029692/page-12
Colvey called up by NZ again. SAN JOSE, Calif. –San Jose Earthquakes defender Kip Colvey has been called up to the New Zealand National Team for a pair of 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against the Solomon Islands. TICKETS: Root Beer Float Night is Saturday at Avaya Stadium! Colvey, 23, and the New Zealand National Team will face the Solomon Islands in Round 3 qualifiers on Sept. 1 local time at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand and again on Sept. 5 local time at Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara, Solomon Islands. New Zealand currently sits on top of Group A in the Oceania region for qualifiers with a 3-1-0 record. Colvey most recently joined the All-Whites for the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia, starting and playing 83 minutes against Russia. This season, Colvey has spent an extensive amount of time with Quakes USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC, making seven starts for the Nevada side.
Yeah, honestly I'm surprised we've seen so little of him. I'm definitely skeptical of his true defensive capabilities, but in the 3-5-2 that they had him playing in for one of the Open Cup games, I thought he did pretty well. Of course, they kind of abandoned that formation when going back to league play, so that might have something to do with it.
Soon after the Open Cup game he played in, he injured his knee (I think it was), so that's why you haven't seen more of him. At the very least I think he would have seen more action in Open Cup otherwise.
So does this mean his rehab assignment is just by chance national team duty....cause it would bother me if there's any doubt at all about him being 100% healthy that he's going.
Elliot Almond said he will not be on the "questionable list" tonight (only Pelosi), so I guess he is feeling better.

Kip Colvey is on TV right now (if you get BeIN Sports, channel 620 on DirecTV) playing for New Zealand against Peru in a World Cup qualifier. (Former Quakes TV announcer Ray Hudson is doing color for the BeIN broadcast.) I've seen more Kip Colvey in the last five minutes than in the last five months playing for San Jose.
I was able to watch the second half. Colvey played the whole match and did well in my biased estimation.
I didn't see the game but Colvey was called out by the NZ coach Hudson for playing well in the away leg of their playoff against Peru. #freekipcolvey "But it didn't stunt Hudson's pride in the team, saying they performed above the expectations of most, especially unheralded players like Kip Colvey, Clayton Lewis and Deklan Wynne." https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/footb...ak-as-peru-qualify-for-first-time-in-35-years
Sorry to see Kip and the Kiwi's bow out, however, my wife is going to Peru in a couple of weeks with some friends to see Machu Picchu, and so I told her the country should be in an overall good mood when she is there.
