He has failed in every way, at every aspect of his so called "job". Dan Flynn, making $650,000 annualy (on the books), needs to pack his bags as well.

The Jurgen Klinsmann debacle and current implosion of our senior mens team is the latest and most visceral aspect of his failures and is the penultimute disaster he has presided over, but not by any means the only reason he has to go.

Lets not forget he is tainted with the same stench of corruption emenating from every FIFA plutocrat and has been less than forthcoming about his involvement with Chuck Blazer and every other shady CONCACAF character. http://worldsoccertalk.com/2015/07/...volution-to-oust-sunil-gulati-from-us-soccer/

He also let flipping Russia and Qatar secure bids over us, has the women's team suing the federation, etc.

Yes Jurgen has to go, but you want Sunil picking the next guy?

Odd. On the way home I was just wondering why Gulati is getting a free pass while Klinsmann gets shelled and then, Voila !

Oh yeah and I'm still pissed about the whole fax machine fiasco. I know a few posters remember that incident!

Gulati needs to go. In fact, I'd say the Board needs new blood since they've kept him on far far too long

Gulati has been in the position for far too long; we need a new perspective in that role.

Just to be clear about how terrible a leader Sunil is and why he would hire a suck up coach who never takes responsibility and throws his players under the bus at every turn, it is because that is the exact same type of "leader" Sunil is. The head of US Soccer couldn't be bothered to attend a US Senate Comittee Hearing and sent his clueless flunky Dan Flynn in his stead:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/16/s...er-is-absent-but-draws-ire-from-congress.html

Why do we tolerate this guy, why does our cowardly soccer "media" fail to do any real reporting on our feckless, corrupt and incompetent federation? All of these jackasses are making a killing off of our backs, our hard earned dollars. Anyone involved in the youth game as a parent, coach or administrator knows this garbage runs through the whole system.

It is past time they got sent a message that you can use your corrupt cronyism and bizarre business relationships (like Soccer United Marketing), to enrich yourselves at our expense, or you can put a craptastic senior team on the pitch, led by an assclown, that dishonors the shirt in new and interesting ways at every turn, but you cannot do both!

Talk about bringing back memories. I'd almost forgotten that. A terribly unproductive day at work with absolutely nothing to show for it...

Remember when Gulati fired Tom Sermanni from the USWNT for losing two friendlies in Portugal?

So Gulati should fire Klinsi, then the board should fire Gulati, then the board should resign.
So getting back to the point of having a manager would require, first, new board would need to be elected. Then they'd have to get together and, after figuring out who gets what chair and parking space, etc, they should study up on the budget enough to hire a new president. And once he's been found, he could go get us a new manager.
I admit, it's a plan. But what would the team do until this process is complete in, say, 2021?

I am guessing you haven't been on a lot of boards. No need for it to happen in that order nor for it to take that long

Gulati isn't getting fired from his non-paid position. USSF is more than the USMNT and he has plenty of allies on the women's and youth side.

Not firing Klinsmann has become an embarrassment. Much more so than our team's results. Results can be explained by the loss of Donovan, and now Dempsey. It is understandable that we are no longer tops in concacaf and we might not qualify. But under Klinsmann, we are so disorganized it is shameful.

I agree with your first point. Your second point is complicated by the fact that the men's program subsidizes most of the rest of them.

I actually have been on a couple, and I've covered dozens (public ones). If the board en masse resigns, there is no board. US Soccer's board might represent an overly complex mess of smaller bodies, but they do have election rules, and it would be a mess to reestablish.
As for the order, so it would be cool for the questionable Gulati to pick the new manager? Or the ineffective board to bring in a new president? If that's the case, you're okay with them making the calls, do you really need the decision makers to leave?

Abby Wambach and co. fired Tom Sermanni. Carli Lloyd basically said that in her book.

Gulati put all his eggs in the Klinsmann basket. It is going to be hard to hire another coach who doesn't expect the same control Klinsmann had. If Bruce Arena is truly the replacement option, there is no way he agrees unless he gets the same control as Klinsmann and money that is probably more than USSF can pay him. It will be the same way to a lesser degree with Pareja, Kreis, and Marsch. That leaves a coach like Pablo Mastroeni or Ben Olson or Jay Heaps who can't demand that stuff.

Gulati's only options right now are
    1) Keep Klinsmann
    2) Give a US coach a lot of power and a lot of money
    3) Find a foreign coach that requires money.

The thing people don't realize is that Gulati is basically Roger Goodell. He is just the public face.

Nah. Bruce would take the job quick fast in a hurry and would be fine with just being in charge of the USMNT. His legacy is tarnished by 2006 and there's nothing he would like more than simultaneously (1) repairing his legacy and (2) upstaging Klinsmann.

When did Bruce Arena, Oscar Pareja, Jason Kreis or Jessie Marsch get to a World Cup semifinal and have experience managing Bayern Munich? Because that's what Klinsmann brought to the table.

It's more about demanding more that US Soccer would be willing to give them, which is less than what they would give Klinsmann.

I think Sunil knows that as soon as Klinsman goes, the firing focus shifts 100% to him. He's like a GM in any sport that brought in his favorite coach and its been a disaster. The initial focus is on the coach but then you wonder how he got that position in the first place.

    Klinsman must go.

    Sunil should too.
