“With my 18th pick, I will select Tom Byars. Tom got a call up to a U14 camp in 2011. Last I heard, he was working at Walmart in Escondido but he scored a really nice goal against the St. Vincent and the Grenadines C squad one time”
Jesus Ferreira isn't eligible because he wasn't a citizen when the draft started. Otherwise I would have considered selecting him by now.
I was prepared to take Nick Lima at 87 out of a combo of bpa and need, but I opted for LDLT instead because I prioritized getting a 10 at the time as a link-up and creative man I was kind of missing. Was hoping Lima would fall to my pick six spots later, but he went in between, not surprisingly. Kind of regretting that decision after last night. I figured Lima would surge after this camp. Thought him to be underrated and underused. But how he was utilized offensively to be part of the build-up and given opportunities to get high centrally and out wide is making me really 2nd guess the decision.
Definitely. He was outstanding last night. Others may not take this as the compliment that I mean it as, but he was like a Frankie Hejduk who could cross the ball.
If you liken him to a Hejduk with a left foot, which I think Lima has, whereas Frankie was practically an amputee, then it's a high compliment.
Sapong is a really good pick, IMO. If for some reason, Siebatcheu was not eligible, that’s who we would have grabbed.
I'm intrigued by the idea of Zyen Jones' speed, strength, and athleticism at left back, when I already have Pulisic and Holmes on the wings. I think I'm going to drop Aaron Herrera to the bench and just start Jones. Clearly lots of planning went into my draft decisions.
@Matthew Hartman slip in any time you're ready bro. Shouldn't hurt you too bad this late to be skipped, but it may eventually. It's best for the game for everybody to have competitive squads selected under similar circumstances.
Pierie is provisionally cap-tied to the Netherlands. Guys such as Folarin Balogun, Tyler Boyd, Maurice Malone, Anel Sabanadzovic, Izzy Tandir, Timothy Tillman are also ineligible because they're cap-tied at youth level to another country. It's okay for me to name them since they can't be drafted. Guys like Siebatcheu and Alvarez who aren't yet provisionally cap-tied to another country are eligible to be drafted and have been already. If they do get provisionally tied, they must be dropped from the roster and can't be replaced. The rule is far from perfect because the odds of Balogun and Tillman eventually playing for the USA are significantly higher than Alvarez, but alas.
Anybody heard from @Matthew Hartman ? He was pretty quick with his picks for most of the draft so I’m wondering if he thought the draft was over and stopped logging in to BS
Next year rule suggestion. Let’s reduce the time window to 4 hours. However, there is a “bed time pause” that’ll last up to 10 hours from the time the bed time pause was announced. For example, I’ll pick on @jond and @AutoPenalti for this example whom we are sandwiched between. If say, @jond is taking forever to make his late pick and it’s late and I need to go to bed. I would post either in the picks or discussion thread “bed time pause” at say 11:06. Well, even if @jond posts his pick at 11:30. I would then have until 09:06 to make my pick. So, @AutoPenalti would not be up at 07:30 but at 09:06 when I claimed bed time pause. Point is we try to keep the draft going as quickly as possible during the day, but understand people aren’t going to pick in their sleep. We could also discuss 1-2 “day time pause” for when have situations at work and would need more than 4 hours to look down at our phone. That said, I believe most of us don’t go a whole 8 hours without once looking at our phones. Thoughts? @TheFalseNine
Maybe, but stuff happens. I've been without internet for 2 days because of weather and was also frozen in because of this. So I'd have been screwed if the draft moved that fast. Just so happens I got lucky and my turn came back up as I got temporary access elsewhere, after the draft moved along methodically for the last 2 days. BTW, I think the problem will be rectified between now and my next pick, but we'll see. As a contingency I might send you (Eleven Bravo) my next selection via pm again. Although if he comes off the board I might be bypassed. So be it. The show must go on.

Damn, I wanted Rennicks. Although I probably wasn't going to pull the trigger this round. I was going to risk him slipping until next. I loved him in the CONCACAF Ships. Provided everything but the finishing. So probably best to play him on the wing. He pulled a Morris when it comes to his pro career. The upside was in Europe, but wanted to remain close to his family for the time being. In Jordan's case the team was a lot more friendly to him, whereas New England jerked around Rennicks and he just took it. Hopefully it works out for him there. They owe it to him to give him early opportunities if he's bright in training. Sounds very confident and should at least be a bench player for them this year. Incidentally, my internet is back up, so I should be able to make my own picks in a timely fashion now.
Really appreciate that list @Lookingforleftbacks. Thanks. Also, sorry I forgot to tag you @ChuckMe92.
Fwiw, I would’ve taken Rennicks before he made it back to you. Seems like a good value pick at this point. Well done, @zlebmada I have been spending a ton of time trying to figure out who’s been taken so I figured some other people probably were too. Glad the list helped.
I didn't really need Scott. More of a luxury pick and the allure of "made his Chelsea senior debut." My backline is extremely suspect outside of Lima.
