Chicago, yes. Melissa Bjånesøy is a typical all-round centre-forward just below international level. Good at a number of things, but not exceptional at anything. She is relatively quick-footed. She has been quite anonymous in recent seasons. Little indicates she has been in Sjögren's plans so far. This year she has been more efficient in front of goal in Toppserien than usual. Her positioning has been better and her teammates have provided her with better service. Particularly the quality of crosses into the box has been better. I can't see her break into a starting line-up for Norway at the moment though, but if her goalscoring form keeps up, she can't be ignored forever.

    - - - In other news - - -

Struggling Kolbotn offload two players. Siw Døvle to Trondheims-Ørn and Antonia Göransson to an unmentioned Italian club.

Stabæk have signed two youngsters from Urædd; Silje Bjørneboe and Rebecca Mykland. Two other squad players retire to focus on education; Martine Flakk and Christine Berthelsen

It's time to put the Euro misery behind and focus on the future. Clubs are slowly preparing for the second half of the season.

    Friendly today:
    LSK Kvinner vs Arna-Bjørnar 0-0

A partially second string line-up from LSK without Euro participating players, and a few starters also missing at A-B. Many chances to both teams, but no goals.

The game was played at Ekebergsletta in Oslo, currently the venue for Norway Cup, the world's largest football youth tournament with more than 2200 teams from all over the world in the age groups 6-19. Thousands of matches are being played this week.

Caroline Graham Hansen made her name nation-wide first time here when her club Lyn beat Danish opposition Skovlunde in the televised final to clinch the title in the U17 tournament in 2010. Caro, at only 15, was the youngest player on the field and tore apart the Danes. The commentators ran out of superlatives. Highlights here.

Isabell Herlovsen's Chinese club is touring Norway these days and will play three games against Toppserien clubs over the next week or so. First match tonight:

    Stabæk vs Jiangsu Suning 1-1
    0-1 Gabriella Zanotti 21
    1-1 Synne Jensen 79

Frida Maanum assisted Jensen for the equalizer. She came on as a sub and was the only Euro 2017 participating player in action for Stabæk tonight. Jiangsu Suning will next take on Arna Bjørnar on Saturday and then LSK Kvinner on Tuesday.

Ingvild on her departure to Italy:

"I'm very grateful for Stabæk to allow me to pursue this dream of playing abroad, and for being supportive in this matter. It's been a tough choice, because I'm leaving a club and a team I've become very attached to, and a big part of me still wants to stay at Nadderud. But when I received this offer from such a big club like Juventus, with the commitment they are making in the women's game, this was simply an offer I couldn't refuse. I'm very proud and happy to get this opportunity."

How good it is to have Toppserien rolling again! The 13th matchday brought us 16 goals, a new league leader, a jaw-dropping defeat for the champions, a stadium re-opened and revitalised Northerners.

    Avaldsnes vs Grand Bodø 5-0
1-0 Elise Thorsnes (Francielle Alberto) 13
2-0 Cecilie Pedersen (Ingrid Ryland) 17
3-0 Hanna Dahl (Cecilie Pedersen) 28
4-0 Elise Thorsnes (Ingrid Ryland) 41
5-0 Francielle Alberto (Elise Thorsnes) 88
This was a game played in typical Western Norwegian torrential rain. Avaldsnes scored some good goals in this game after nice combination play, and showed they are on the right path even if the opponents weren't top class. Avaldsnes went top of the table with an extra game played. Grand Bodø's new power forward, Christina Burkenroad, signed from Orlando Pride, made her debut in this game. Avaldsnes left-back Andrine Tomter made her last appearance as she has just signed for Dutch top club Twente.

    Trondheims-Ørn vs LSK Kvinner 4-1
1-0 Julie Adserø (Andrea Haugstøyl) 8
    2-0 Oda Fugelsnes 13
3-0 Oda Fugelsnes (Rakel Engesvik) 26
4-0 Julie Adserø (Oda Fugelsnes) 61
4-1 Marte Berget (Sophie Haug) 65
How about this for a shocking result? LSK's 34 game unbeaten run in Toppserien came to an end in Trondheim of all places. LSK came from two goals down to win a warm-up friendly against Jiangsu Suning the other day, but couldn't recover four against Ørn. Ørn's new summer signing from Level 2 club Byåsen, Julie Adserø, scored two goals. The title race is suddenly wide open again and Avaldsnes are visiting LSK on Thursday.

    Kolbotn vs Arna Bjørnar 0-1
    0-1 Maria Brochmann 58
This was a match where the scoreline looked tighter than the game actually was. Arna Bjørnar were superior in every sense, but struggled with efficiency against injury-prone and lowly placed Kolbotn. The squad is so thin that Solveig Gulbrandsen had to come out of retirement again to make another appearance as a substitute. Thankfully for A-B, one goal was enough to seal the points, and it came after Brochmann took advantage of a poor clearance in the box by Ingrid Elvebakken.

    Vålerenga vs Klepp 1-0
1-0 Jennie Nordin (Maren Hauge) 6
Klepp are notorious for their weak second part of the season. Two years running they've been the worst team in the league after the summer break, and now they've started with a loss again. To add to their misery, Australian international, Tameka Butt, was sent off towards the end with a second yellow card for a foul. The Swede Jennie Nordin, who has had a stellar season so far, became the match-winner early on when heading in a cross from close range. It was otherwise a rather tight game with chances at both ends.

    Stabæk vs Røa 2-0
    1-0 Melissa Bjånesøy 2
2-0 Andrea Wilmann (Mina Kjørum) 45
Stabæk have lost two NT midfielders within a few days. First Ingvild Isaksen signed for Juventus and Frida Maanum is currently negotiating with Swedish champions Linköping, and therefore didn't play either. As a result of this, the promising Heidi Ellingsen will now get more time on the field which is good. Melissa Bjånesøy keeps scoring these vital poacher goals after goalmouth scramble, which Stabæk didn't last season. An all-round solid performance by Stabæk and a little disappointing from Røa who are very inconsistent this season.

    Sandviken vs Medkila 1-1
0-1 Jenna McCormick (Ida Fossem) 19
    1-1 Sofie Bloch Jørgensen 53
Sandviken reinaugurated their upgraded Stemmemyren stadium and must have thought about three easy points today, but their opponents came prepared. Expectations on the Polar circle girls were low before kick-off because Medkila lost 4-1 to Level 2 club Fløya in their last warm-up match. Medkila with four new foreign pro players in the squad stood up well and got a deserved draw - their first point earned since these two teams met in the season opener. Both goals in the game were scored by new summer signings, Australian McCormick and the Dane Bloch Jørgensen.

Mystifying! o_O And judging from highlights it looks like the score could have been even higher. I wonder how an LSK-Kvinner in this state of form can hope to make points vs Avaldsnes...

Did Ryoko Takara play the whole game?

This is encouraging. :) But let's hope Sandviken won't reveal the only Toppserien's team Medkila can make points against! And even just one at a time! :x3:

no offense to "Toppserien" but the whole league looks so weak now... NFF needs to put more money in to the woso in Norway or we are gonna face the same fate as the men NT lol

Only the first half. She and Synne Skinnes Hansen were subbed at half time. I doubt LSK play two bad matches like this in a row. LSK have never lost against Avaldsnes. Will be interesting on Thursday.

Won't be as bad as the men. Don't worry! :D Toppserien is doing fine despite facing many of the same obstacles other woso leagues do. LSK are weaker than last year, Avaldsnes roughly on the same level. Arna Bjørnar better than last year. Stabæk too, but we'll see how they cope without Isaksen and Maanum. Røa, Klepp and Vålerenga have promising teams. I think the depth in the league is pretty good.

:( for NWSL, good for LSK:cool: Wonder what the full story is. From the games I watched of Boston, Emilie seemed out of sorts and not a key piece of their offense, unfortunately. Also, she was not utilized very much in the three Euro games. :(

A short term loan deal, I suppose? She had a couple of badly timed injuries which set her back. I have seen one or two of her games at Breakers and she looked rusty and lost on the pitch. Definitely not at her best. She certainly wasn't asked to play the role she normally does. May be LSK's familiar system will bring her back to her normal level again.

Former Røa striker Andrea Skjold Frøshaug (never heard of her) is moving to Copenhagen but will play for Malmö club LB07 in Damallsvenskan. Apparently she's been playing college football for a while and is just back from a long injury period.

If someone like me is wondering why someone would move to Copenhagen to play for a Malmö club, she is moving there to study. She has a common friend with some LB07 players and LB07 was looking for a player they could afford and would add something to the clubs strength.

Exciting transfer. I think Frøshaug is a quality player - when fit. She was voted best College player in America a few years ago, and is known for her pace. She played for Røa in Toppserien a few games last summer in between semesters and scored some nice goals. It will be interesting to see what Andrea can do in Damallsvenskan.
