Matchday 2 is complete. Another juicy Toppserien menu is being served with 27 goals in six matches including two excellent free-kicks, bitter (or sweet) last-minute equalizers, a record-breaking goal at Sofiemyr and no less than four own-goals and two red cards. After only two matchdays we have as many red cards as during the entire 2016 season - three.

Arna Bjørnar vs LSK Kvinner 1-1
1-0 Ingrid Stenevik (Elise Stenevik) 3
1-1 Ingrid Kvernvolden (Ingrid Moe Wold) 12
An aggressive Arna Bjørnar team made it difficult for LSK who couldn't find the rhythm in their attacking game from last week against Klepp. This was more like the struggling LSK edition I expected to see after following them this pre-season. The Stenevik cousins combined well for Arna's opening goal. A free-kick from Elise found Ingrid in the box who scored from close range. LSK replied shortly after with a freak header from Kvernvolden that bounced over the goalkeeper. A-B had some good scoring opportunities towards the end, but a draw was a fair result.

    Vålerenga vs Røa 0-2
0-1 Line Holter (Gunhild Herregården) 33
    0-2 Lisa-Marie Utland 67
Vålerenga's hyped foreign legion looked poor - only two Norwegians in the starting line-up. It's early in the season and most of these players haven't played together for long, but the team lacked heart and barely created anything against a physical Røa team who seemed to win all battles and 50/50 balls. It resulted in a deserved two-goal win which could have been more, as Herregården also missed a penalty for Røa. Vålerenga had Teigen Allen sent off for the foul prior to that after 57 mins.

    Kolbotn vs Avaldsnes 1-5
    1-0 Daiane Santos 12 (own-goal)
1-1 Elise Thorsnes (Cecilie Pedersen) 59
1-2 Cecilie Pedersen (Andreia Rosa) 71
    1-3 Andrine Tomter 76
1-4 Elise Thorsnes (Cecilie Pedersen) 79
    1-5 Ina Gausdal 84 (own-goal)
The old football cliché "it was a game of two halves" is well suited to describe this match. Avaldsnes looked awful in the first 45 and Kolbotn lead deservedly. I see Daiane has been given Kolbotn's goal officially, but she only tried to tackle the ball from going into the open net. Antonia Göransson should have been given the goal, in my opinion. In the second half it was Cecilie Pedersen show with Elise Thorsnes as best supporting team-mate. Meryll Abrahamsen is looking better and better in midfield also. A few more performances like this, and she'll be in contention for the Euro squad. The 1-1 and 1-4 goals are excellent combination goals involving Meryll-Cecilie-Elise. We must add that Kolbotn do have injury problems, and of course Solveig Gulbrandsen was brought out of retirement once again, but couldn't influence the game. Thorsnes has now scored 151 Toppserien goals in her career, which makes her the league's all-time top scorer, breaking Marianne Pettersen's record.

    Stabæk vs Medkila 6-1
    1-0 Melissa Bjånesøy 6
    2-0 Maria Hustad 19 (own-goal)
    3-0 Victoria Ludvigsen 54
4-0 Andrea Wilmann (Synne Jensen) 63
    5-0 Heidi Ellingsen 72
    6-0 Frida Maanum 75 (free-kick)
6-1 Alex Quincey (Maria Hustad) 89
There was never any doubt where the points would end up in this game. Stabæk were at least one class above Medkila at everything. Vanja Stefanovic benched NT player Ingvild Isaksen in favour of Heidi Ellingsen in midfield, and she took full advantage of the faith given. All three promising youngsters coming from Lyn this winter; Ellingsen, Wilmann and Maanum scored in this game, the latter on a fine free-kick. Stabæk's solidity and depth will take them far this season, but they need to face better opposition than today in order to find out what they really are made of. Medkila had Anja Rasmussen sent off with double yellow cards.

    Sandviken vs Trondheims-Ørn 2-2
1-0 June Hammersland (Marije Brummel) 4
    1-1 Tina Fremo 9
    2-1 Stine Hovland 15
    2-2 Cesilie Andreassen 90 (free-kick)
For the second week running, Sandviken lost the lead in the dying seconds, and they now have to settle for two points on the table instead of six. This time it was Andreassen's superb free-kick goal that spoiled the party for Sandviken. Ørn have done well in these first two games and have had fighting spirit in games that have swung back and forth.

    Klepp vs Grand Bodø 4-2
    0-1 Anne-Marthe Birkeland (Trine Skjelstad Jensen) 5
0-2 Linda Ruutu (Ingeborg Nordheim) 8
    1-1 Kirsty Yallop 11 (pen)
2-2 Hanne Kogstad (Tuva Hansen) 53
    3-2 (own-goal) 64
4-2 Hege Hansen (Marie Andresen) 88
Just like against LSK last week, Klepp had another disastrous start, but managed to regroup and fight their way back into the game and win this time. But it wasn't a convincing performance. A penalty, blocked clearance and an own-goal made sure Klepp had the margins on their side today regarding the goals. Grand Bodø won't accept relegation without a fight. I think they might upset a few teams on the lower half of the table.

It's still early, but Hege Hansen is one of those players in need of a strong first half of the season in order to get selected, yes. She is a fringe player in the NT squad, sometimes in and sometimes not. She scored on Sunday, but we have some very solid forward choices already. Her best asset is her speed. The fact that she is a typical counter-attack player might tip it in her favour when the Euro squad is selected. With Isabell Herlovsen not in the NT anymore, that also opens up an extra chance for her.

As of today I think the following players are ahead of Hege Hansen in the pecking order: Ada Hegerberg, Caroline Hansen, Kristine Minde and Emilie Haavi for sure. Likely also Lisa-Marie Utland - who has started well for Røa. It could be a fight between Hege and Stabæk's Synne Jensen for that last spot, Synne has also started well this season. Unless Sjögren picks both...:cautious: Still much uncertainty. And Toppserien's top scorer at the moment, Melissa Bjånesøy, might also be a contender come July, and what if Cecilie Pedersen makes a shocking come-back... :sneaky: You see, there are too many "what ifs" at this stage of the season.

Share some experiences for all of you!

    <I Love Women's Football> Episode 1.

Speaking of women's football,I always have many things to say.But I don't know where to start.
    Just begin with...

I like viewing football from multi perspectives.Football maybe is a sport, also is a science&technology,or is an art,It depends on your angle of view.

*Sometimes, I'll see a football match as a movie, because they both have so many similarities. For example:similar time span (90m,120m,or so),similar characters:every player on the pitch just like an actress;every head coach just like a scriptwriter, designing many sets of tactics for a match in advance; The refrees on the pitch just like directors, being in charge of game process, when they aren't satisfied with sth.,they'll blow a whistle to pause the match, similar to saying"cut" by a director.

Some movies are suit to children, and the others are suit to adult people. Some movies are easy to understand, and the others are obscure. The same applies to football matches.

    * Sometimes,I also see a fooball match as a real-time multithreading software system, every player on the pitch just like a task or a threading ,every team just like a DSP...............This is another angle of view for football.

*Everybody has his own speciality & career.Maybe combine your specilaity knowledge with football matches, you'll be surpriesd to find football match could bring some inspiration&creative for your career.

Well, all opponents from pot 3, 4 and 5 are with 98% certainty 6 pts anyway. The key to a good group is to avoid the best teams from pot 2, and drawing Netherlands we didn't do that this time. Only Denmark would have been just as bad, in my opinion. A good draw for us would have been Russia, Scotland or may be Iceland from pot 2. Austria or Belgium would have been the acceptable choices in the middle.

The good thing is that we are better off than four years ago when we had Belgium in addition to the Dutch in the group to Canada '15. But can Ireland take points off the Dutch the way Belgium did on the road to Canada? Right now I have my doubts.

Toppserien continues tomorrow already. This is a weekend for re-scheduled matches. Stabæk's stadium Nadderud is going to be occupied by a youth athletics competition on matchday 9, so they play tomorrow instead. Vålerenga's indoor arena Vallhall is going to be occupied by students taking their final exams also on matchday 9, so they play on Saturday instead. Avaldsnes wanted to have the weekend off when they play Champions League in late August, so matchday 15 is re-scheduled for them to Sunday.

    Stream links:
28 April: Stabæk vs Grand Bodø (5:30pm)
29 April: Vålerenga vs Arna Bjørnar (3:00pm)

A run-of-the-mill win for Stabæk tonight in a match played in heavy rain. After two early goals, the first half had little to offer in terms of goalmouth action. Grand did well to hold off Stabæk from creating big chances, but the goals came in the second half instead when the Northerners got tired. Despite not scoring or assisting, I think Frida Maanum was the most dominant player out there today. Her game is remarkably mature for a 17-year-old in midfield. Cecilie Liane is the best crosser of a ball in the league. She proved that at Kolbotn and she continues to prove that at Stabæk, tonight with two assists from corners. Also worth noticing that Ingvild Isaksen was benched for the second match in a row. Coach Vanja Stefanovic can at least back up that decision with two blow-out wins. But it doesn't help Ingvild's Euro ambitions, for sure.

    Some updates about Caro&her club:

*With increasingly important both strategically and tactically,Caro has already been located team core in Wob's offensive system recently.launch attack&finish attack&assist attack,Caro is playing more and more roles in her club.

Wob's traditional attack mode: fast(M.Muller) &high(A.popp) mixed up,'blasse has been her speed down the right wing and her excellent crosses, popp gave strong header in the middle' has already a classic attack patern for WOB.

But in this season,we seldom see this kind of classic scene.this tradition has change a lot.wob's coach has decided to set a new attack mode.In his offensive system, speed is the most crucial, height isn't essential any more.Wob's attacking line use so many fast players, includes:caro, harder, dickmann, blasse.Being trapped in this innovation,Popp seem like very struggled&embarrassed now. When popp was in fw position, her value was low.So coach is trying to make popp deepen back to midfileld and act as playmaker role.

Let me summary the above analysis:
Due to wob's coach tactics innovation in this season, espeically after winter-break,caro&harder has already become new core in wob's offensive system, and old core---popp is adapting his new role----midfielde playmaker.

But wob has still lacked a true top scorer,so my wish about perfect version wob:

    4231version Wob
    --------------------------------------Miedema(Bench:pajor)
    ----Dickemann(or Kers)----------------P.harder--------------------------Caro
    ---------------------------------------Popp-----------------------#7SBG

    or

    4141version Wob

    --------------------------------------Miedema(Bench:pajor)
    ----Dickemann(or Kers)----P.harder-------Popp-------------------Caro
    ---------------------------------------------#7SBG

Forgive me discussing a German club in Norway Thread:(But it indeed involve Caro's tactics priority in wob:p

Well, what can I say? Maanum is a difficult player to define. She has a little of everything, so much raw material. She is a player who seeks the ball, she wants it all the time. That shows confidence. She has a tremendous drive with the ball when she runs forward with it. She looks relatively robust and can hold players off. She is skillful with the ball at her feet, smart solutions when in trouble and a little trickster some times. A very good right footed shot (strong at free-kicks also). In Stabæk this season she plays as one of two holding midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 formation. I think she could've played further upfield if necessary also.

I'm looking forward to next week when Stabæk play Avaldsnes. I want to see how Maanum performs against top opposition. There is a video about her on Youtube with mostly amateur recordings from last season when she played for Lyn at level two.

    good characteristics for an holding-midfielder:thumbsup:

She just participated in U19 Euros"Elite round" earlier in April.and now she also has already become a starter in Stabæk.As a 17-year-old girl,it's not easy to manage to these 2 points.

    Vålerenga vs Arna Bjørnar 2-2
0-1 Ingrid Altermark (Elise Stenevik) 9
0-2 Ine Marie Wedaa (Amalie Eikeland) 15
1-2 Aivi Luik (Johanne Fridlund) 33
2-2 Theresa Nielsen (Johanne Fridlund) 39
Vålerenga's foreign legion still look for their first win this season, although salvaging a draw today was a step in the right direction as Arna Bjørnar looked the better team for long stretches of the match. The last goal was perhaps the best, coming after nice combination build-up play between the 100-cap-Dane Nielsen and Fridlund. Arna Bjørnar squandered a two-goal lead for the second away game in a row, and now have to settle for three draws. Despite three points out of a possible nine so far, A-B are still better than I expected without their dominant captain Vilde Bøe Risa injured for the season. They still try to build from the back and through midfield with some success. Elise Stenevik has taken some major steps this winter. Finally a promising left-back again.

The last of this weekend's three re-scheduled matches:

    Avaldsnes vs Røa 0-0

This is the first goalless match in Toppserien this season. Dropping two points at home is a little miscalculation for Avaldsnes at an early stage in the championship race, but not very shocking given Røa's positive start. Avaldsnes had most of the big chances, but failed to break down the well-organized Oslo club. Elise Thorsnes had an unbelievable miss that will keep her awake tonight. All three Australian players Gema Simon, Emily Gielnik and Chloe Logarzo made their Toppserien debuts for Avaldsnes as their work permits finally had been approved. We didn't get any goals to celebrate, but instead found joy in a cat that ran onto the field to interrupt the game at one stage. :D

Uneven table after the re-scheduled matches:

Update on the Norwegians in Sweden.

Dead ball specialist June Pedersen with all three assist yesterday when Piteå won their first Damallsvenskan game this season.

Kristine Minde has had a good start to the season for Linköping but left the field at halftime yesterday, strained thigh muscle.

No guts, no glory. Arne Utvik, the strong man and real-estate millionaire behind the rise of Avaldsnes from the 3rd division to top club in Norway, has drawn up a hairy long-term plan for 2020:
    • Champions League final
    • Budget: 20 million NOK (€ 2.13 million)
    • 200 sponsors
    • 2 000 spectators on average in league matches
    • 20 000 followers on Facebook
    • 200 000 supporters in Norway
I know Utvik has been having talks of collaboration with neigbouring FK Haugesund which are currently mid-table in Norway's top division for men. Still nothing public about the outcome of those meetings though. Avaldsnes borrowed Haugesund's stadium for the Champions League game against Lyon last October.

sorry too for being off thread, but while Wolfsburg has made a pitch to get Miedema, Bayern Munich has countered by signing her good friend, Dutch plyaer, Jill Roord. But what will be probably the final determination is if BM can hold down the 2nd league spot(their now just 1 point away), so they can play in next year's Champions League. If they can't get 2nd, then most likely Miedema & a host of top players will flee BM

in order to beat Lyon, you would have to match them with 9 current or former top ten players from FIFA's short list, plus what's arguably the 2nd best squad in the French League---Lyon's bench!

There proably is a reason their goal is to reach the final not to win it.
You should be able to guess it as well as I did.
