Rumoured Lorenzo Pellegrini for release clause of €30M would be interesting. Given his age and ability not much financial risk. Like the fact he is a two-footed CM.

Believe this would meet both Ed and Mou criteria and as a release clause and relatively cheap, could imagine this could happen.

Not sure if playing under Mourinho will be good for him but sure hope we try.

What young player would rather sign for us than any other top 6 club, or their equivalents abroad? The only thing working in our favour is that people might not have done their research and found out that history is history, and that Mou & Utd is a toxic mix. But the chances of that dwindle with every high profile spanking or dressing room conflict.

Perfectly understandable why anyone would want him. But putting tribalism aside, why would he ever choose to go to Pool? He wouldn't be anywhere near first choice and would be facing massive competition just to get games.
Chelsea would make lots of sense for him, where his competitors would be Willian and Pedro, nothing he can't overcome. Plus there's the appeal to work under Sarri, which a player like him should love tbh.
Understandable also why Mourinho would not want him, but Woodward should be all over him tbh. From a football sense, he'd fill in a major hole for us on the right flank. We all know about his commercial appeal, something that surely cannot be lost in Woodward either.
By any reasonable expectation, Mourinho, after failing to meet CL qualification for next season, will be done. Pulisic is a hot, young talent who could be at the club for years. No reason we shouldn't try at the very least. But as noted previously in this thread, if it's not going to be him, there are a plethora of guys we can go after to solve our right sides problem. And therefore, there is zero excuses to not address the issue next summer, one way or another.

Hoping the latest batch of transfer rumours are just bs rumours - Arnautovich, Cahill and Pickford. Jeebus - how mid-table would that be?

Jose would be leaving the next manager worse off than Moyes or LVG did before him.

The worst part is that except for Cahill, the other 2 would not go for mid table pricing: Everton paid 30mil for him, so there's no telling how much they'd want for him now. Especially being England's undisputed #1 now, on top of the English premium. Not worth it and would rather move for Oblak, who is said to be ready to leave Atleti, if we are really losing Dave.
As far as Arnie is concerned, I just don't see it. So Woodward is going to veto transfers for Perisic or Willian, only to sanction Arnautovic (who won't be cheap either)? I guess anything is possible, but talk about wild inconsistency.
Will be interesting to see what business can be done in January (and above all else that we stay away from Cahill, even on a free). But being United, we'll invariably be linked with just about any and all player (available or not) on the market. The rumor mill is warming up...

Anyone willing to bet we will lose DDG and Pogba next summer if Mourinho stays?

Woodward's logic may not make sense to us at times, but the one thing he's not is a fool. Dave is another matter entirely with his contract coming to an end in 2020, but there is just no way Woodward will ever allow Pogba to leave, least of all for Mourinho. That has been made very clear this past summer. And the club has the leverage when it comes to Pogs, since he's locked up until 2023.
Besides, the smart money is on Mourinho being gone anyway by next summer...

Pretty sure he's locked up until 2021 with an option for another year .

Ok, so it's 2021 (my mistake), with an option which means 2022 for all intents and purposes. The point being that the club and Woodward still hold, for the time being at least, the cards in terms of how to deal with him and Raiola, no matter how difficult it may prove at times....

Give Jardim this squad.. he will dump fellaini matic and will shape us in few months playing attacking football.. i agree we only have 2 World class players but team of Lukaku/Sanchez Martial,Rashford Pogs Herrera Fred with intent to attack can turnover 14-15 teams with ease..The squad isnt capable to win league but can and should be finishing in top 4. I was livid when Jose wasnt given Kitty in summer but i wont trust him with money anymore.. Fred should be starting but 52 million man is warming bench and shit players like Matic playing regularly..

    Mourinho targeting Witsel?

    www.espn.co.uk/soccer/soccer-transfers/story/3709381/manchester-united-boss-jose-mourinho-targets-axel-witsel-from-borussia-dortmund-sources

It appears he was one of the players he was watching recently. A story that has been corroborated by Kristof Terreur as well.
If legitimate though, that is the type of story that is so frustrating. Witsel was available and there for the taking last summer for under 20mil. Given his age, that was a very reasonable price. Not to mention, he is the kind of player who would have relegated Matic to the bench and could have worked very well with Pogba.
That was a missed opportunity and even if Witsel was looking to leave Dortmund, there's no telling how much he will cost at this point.

No thanks. We don't need another ageing star on high wages that will have no resale value. We're not close enough to challenging for anything to be taking on 28 year old or older players.

My sentiments as well, although I can't vouch for Jardim. But turn this squad over to a manager who is unafraid to go at the opposition and we can easily dispatch the bottom 14 clubs almost every time. We don't have the squad to compete with City yet but give that same manager a budget and we can get there in 1-2 seasons.

We're not a shitty squad but we have deadwood that needs to pruned off.

I am concerned about Lukaku, however, but we have a thread for the Belgian Beast.

Just watched Lyon vs City: Ndombele was superb, very much running things for Lyon and getting the best of Fernandinho and Silva.
However, of more interest to us is Cornet and he's another one to add on the growing list of potential RWF to keep an eye on. Possesses blistering, and I do mean blistering pace: on top of that he looks like a capable dribbler, very much in control, even in full flight. He's got a knack for goals, having scored a brace today.
He's someone to keep an eye on.
Depay was pretty good also today, for the record: he and Cornet work well together.

United are keeping an eye on Porto's Eder Militao.

    www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/eder-militao-manchester-uniteds-list-13651220

Like Milenkovic, this is someone I know nothing about. Just mentioned as Castles seems to believe he is a potential target for us.
All this talk of bringing a CB in, in conjunction with Jones being ahead of Bailly again in the pecking order, really does not bode well for the latter's United prospects.
As long as we're not foolish to sell him to a league rival, that is what matters most.
