Its neither by accident nor unsustainable his start, unlike Asensio and Vinicius. He is way better than both of them. He is just that good. You can see it from his touch, IQ, attitude and philosophy of playing. The first goal was an incredible display of coordination and anticipation, combined with speed and ball ability. He needs to be a regular starter. Just an outworldly talent.
I see Rodrygo more of a finisher, Vini as a creator. If they can find the right balance they will be an unstoppable force.
Agreed, people just need to rewatch the Barca game. While he missed some chances, he run circles around them. He'll come good!

Spot on. I think it was @YOUNGSTARS87 who pointed out some time ago that he's more of a striker than Vinicius. Happy to be corrected, I didn't feel Rodrygo ran much at the defence and was more focused on getting in good positions. I don't really see Rodrygo as a wide player. Vinicius, shooting aside, was actually quite good last season. Would still like to see him get his confidence back and start games.
Rodrygo is definitely a wide attacker. He has even shown his strength of running with the ball yet. I believe he doesn't want to make mistakes and he isn't one to force the issue. Once he gets stronger and bigger he will start taking on more opponents
bigger? he's 18, you think he's going to grow 2-3 inches? and he ain't going to get stronger a lot as well. regardless, he is a gem of a player. if we're smart about it, we have locked our right/left wide attacker position for years.
Man, vinnie just needs confidence. Him and Rodrygo plus, jovic, Odegaard, Valverde, vallejo, kubo, achraff, mendy, militao, lulin....my god... thats an is insane future starting 11.
he became the youngest player to score a perfect hat-trick in the competition at 18 years 301 days, smashing the record set by Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe, who was 20 years and 306 days old when he hit his treble against Club Brugge in October.
He should definitely get stronger. There is a difference between 18 year old kid and grown man strength
Except not all talents turn out into RM starting quality players. Majority don't. Illaramendi,Jese,Morata,Isco,Asensio,Llorente etc.
Males can grow up to 20 or even 20+. Albeit in smaller sample size. Besides, bigger does not necessarily imply height. As for strength, he will definitely become stronger considering he is still in his teen years and far from being physically mature. It is amazing this needs to be said.
Exactly. I thought bigger meant height. I've misread the word or misunderstood , but some SJW idiot here thought it's funny.
Yeah, thats obviouls, which is why, from here until those kids mature we will still see all kinds of deals being made and yes not all 11 on that list will still play for real madrid in 4/5 years time. It doesnt take away from the extremly good job Florentino has done to rejuvinate the team and safeguard our future.
A really beautiful article in El Mundo, giving some greater detail into who Rodrygo is, how Real Madrid signed him, how the club strategically planned and prepared for his arrival. His sudden rise is no accident. I’ll share some interesting parts of the article below:— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019 Real Madrid first heard of Rodrygo in 2013, when he was only 12 years old . The club's technical secretary commissioned Juni Calafat to find a strong forward for Castilla, the goal was Willian Jose. Months before, Casemiro had been delivered by Calafat.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019 Calafat was contacted by Santos who told the club 'we have a very good boy, his name is Rodrygo...' He went to scout him, and gradually became fond of the boy, Calafat began seeing interesting things in the boy.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019 Nick Arcuri a Brazilian agent soon took over the reins of Rodrygo's career. He emailed the Spanish club a DVD with Rodrygo's matches, while he was progressing through the youth teams at Santos. A year later, at Flamengo, Vinicius became noticed by Real Madrid.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019 Soon, the noise in Brazil began to circulate that Real were very interested in Vinicius, so in 2018, things accelerated on the Rodrygo front. Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool were also interested in Rodrygo. Nasser took Neymar Sr. to Brazil with him to seal the transfer.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019
But Madrid believed the operation was safe, despite other teams being interested. They knew they had the agreement of Rodrygo and his family, the kid wanted to always defend the crest of Real Madrid, and Cristiano Ronaldo being at Madrid also helped with his final decision.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019 Rodrygo's contract was signed in the same cafeteria in Santos where Barcelona signed Neymar. Barca tried hijacking the deal, but their calls went unanswered. From that moment on began a key period in the development of the young striker, who would remain in Brazil for 2018/19.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019 A club employee practically lived with the family for the entire season, accompanying Rodrygo to training and matches. He was mentored and monitored constantly, with Calafat making monthly visits to Santos.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019 He began learning Spanish, his physical training data (vests with GPS) were sent to Madrid, he was shown videos of European matches and performances of other players such as Jadon Sancho, Marco Asensio, Karim Benzema, and even the defensive work of Lucas Vazquez.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019 Zidane is a huge fan of Rodrygo, he finds the Brazilian's game an absolute "joy" but he also values his tactical discipline. But those who know Rodrygo, told El Mundo that there's so much more to come from the teenager, and that his ceiling is very high.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019
Real wanted him to play on the right-wing, they sensed that it would be easier for him to get minutes on that side, despite Rodrygo always playing on the left or behind the striker. So, Madrid asked Santos to move him to the right.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019 It really shows how much Real Madrid care for this kid, perhaps they really do see him as their Neymar. The length they've gone to, to make sure he was ready for life in Spain, is really lovely to see. This is just the start of a phenomenal player.— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019 Full article found here:https://t.co/nVl86ozMzk— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) November 8, 2019
I remember having combative discussions on this forum about Rodrygo being better in the right. I also remember how disappointed Rodrygo was when Cristiano moved to juve. He was his reference and hero. It's crazy months ago people were demanding we buy Sancho.
Calafat is pretty awesome btw. He was the reason why we signed Fede as well. Basically has been doing the job of a SD with South American signings.
Dude has earned every euro (even more) that we're paying him. Love how in tune he is with the talent in South America. It's crazy, because I follow talented youth in mainly Serie A, but to think they legitimately will come to my club...... all because he has strong connections and puts in the work? Amazing
