Well, on his site he claims to be libertarian, and some of his cartoons seem to be at both parties (no, I did not spend much time looking at them). He also claims that politico and slate have run his cartoons.
It's odd because libertarians used to be more left than most liberals, but then their message got co-opted and it's basically turned into deregulation of business bullshit and legalized weed. The worst part is that libertarians actually let it happen and don't seem to be interested in pushing back, and allowing the right to continue to push their agenda through them.
