I have no idea if this is going to be as awesome as it appears, but a Muppet show geared towards adults has some real potential. Here's their lengthy promo (about 10 minutes long): Then there's a series of short promos with other ABC stars, including one where Nathan Fillion makes the walk of shame out of Miss Piggy's trailer.
If you are old enough to remember, this will be the second prime time venture for the Muppets following their highly successful run on CBS in the mid 70's to the early 80's. It was a great series. I expect this will be modeled as a variety show as was the original series with weekly guest hosts like the old series and Saturday Night Live. I would expect to see Stadtler and Waldorf, Gonzo, Dr Bunsen Honey Due and Beeker.
It's probably what you meant, but this will be the third such TV outing for the Muppets, after the aforementioned The Muppet Show (1976-1981) and Muppets Tonight (1996-1998). -G
@Alberto this will definitely not be modeled after a variety show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=10&v=cVFqNsU7B4A
For whatever reason, I ended up missing Tuesday's (September 22nd) series premiere. Fortunately, it'll re-air tomorrow (Friday, September 25th) with the series then continuing its usual Tuesday airing. -G
The good news is that the season was recently extended from 13 to 16 episodes. The bad news is that showrunner Bob Kushnell is leaving and the series will be rebooted midseason. -G
You've been in that thread. There has been more discussion of the show there than here. Stuff like that helps when watching certain teams play.
I've been so busy lately that I have yet to watch this week's one-hour block (i.e. two new half-hour episodes airing back-to-back) off of my HD-DVR. Hopefully this coming weekend. In any case, it also turns out that it was the season finale. -G
I just watched the final six episodes. I think it got better. I'm still not a huge fan of many of the ideas they were going for.
