Hello, I've selected 10 football stadiums to see what people think about it. I took 1 football stadium per country using as criterion: - beauty - minimum of 40,000 seats So, what you think? Wich stadium is the most beautiful in the world? Choices: (Name - Home of - Capacity) Omnilife Stadium (Mexico) - Club Deportivo Guadalajara - 49,850 Ciudad de La Plata Stadium (Argentina) - None - 53,000 Mané Garrincha Stadium (Brazil) - None - 70,064 Cape Town Stadium (South Africa) - Ajax Cape Town - 55,000 King Abdullah Stadium (Saudi Arabia) - None - 60,000 Do Dragão Stadium (Portugal) - Porto FC - 52,399 Pierre-Mauroy Stadium (France) - Lille OSC - 50,186 Donbass Arena (Ukraine) - FC Shakhtar Donetsk - 52,518 Allianz Arena (Germany) - FC Bayern München/TSV 1860 München - 71,137 Narodowy Stadium (Poland) - None - 58,145
You've selected only modern arenas. For me a beautiful called stadium must have charm and history. Of course the Westfalenstadion is the most beautiful in the world . And in England there are many old beautiful grounds for example anfield.
I don't think you even have the most beautiful stadium in Portugal. I *love* the way they use of the landscape at Estadio Municipal de Braga:
If I had to pick one from this list, I would go with Cape Town Stadium. There's just something about the stadium's visual that I really enjoy. King Abdullah Stadium would probably be second for me.
Never in history there was a great stadium that took so LOOOOOONG to finish and to make up the deficit: Let's visit my city Montreal, Canada Inside open at night and outside when closed
It seems, at least in my mind, that the smaller, more intimate stadia have an advantage. What ten would you have chosen if you increased the minimum to 70,000?
From your list I choose Dragao (Porto). Others I like that aren't listed.. Azteca (Mexico-City, Mexico) Saitama Stadium (Saitama, Japan) Westfalenstadion (Dortmund, Germany) Fritz-Walter-Stadion (Kaiserslautern, Germany) Stade de la Beaujoire (Nantes, France) All 40k plus.. (don't understand why you took that as a criteria).
I actually didn't know the Mane Garrincha in Brazil looked that good, mostly because I watched the games playing in it and the inside seems just normal, but the outside it's new but the design reminds me of old Greek temples, or masonic constructions, it's quite beautiful. Out of these I really didn't think any of them were stand-outs. I'm not sure what was the criteria he had when he picked but outside of the first 3 (mexican, argentinean and brazilian stadiums) I would remove all and add I would add the Beijing National Stadium (the bird's nest) Azadi in Tehran Soldier Field (renovated while the outside facade of the stadium remained) De Meer Stadion (amsterdam) First National Bank Stadium (South Africa) Giuseppe Meazza (AC Milan) and of course... Olympiastadion (Germany)
I'd like to add Spartak Moscow's new stadium to the list. The Otkritie Arena. Capacity, 44K. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=407249&page=80
Among those ten, I voted for Allianz Arena. To me, the best is now the new national stadium of Singapore: It has a retractable roof and retractable seating configurations on the lowest tier, so it can hosts both football matches (with more seats, because the running track is covered by them) and athletics events (with less seats, because the running track is visibile).
