1. I hate field-level suites - they take away from the atmosphere, especially while watching on TV. 2. For the same reason, I don't mind having the suites on the camera side, meaning that you don't get a wall of glass when watching a game on TV.
Considering 1) I think it's the same architects and 2) Loon ownership made an awful lot of trips to KC before MLS Launch, I'm not shocked.
I do not want to break the rules on the thread, as these stadia are not started....yet. But that will be changing soon. First, Cincy groundbreaking 12/18: http://www.bing.com/amp/amp.wcpo.co...s-hit-dirt-during-public-ceremony-dec-18.html Meanwhile, 100 miles north, Columbus city vouncil votes unanimously to put in $50 million for development & infrastructure on the new stadium development & repurposing of Mapfre intova community park/training complex. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018...cil-unanimously-approves-proposal-new-stadium State House is voting on an omnibus spending bill today that includes $15 million more and the Franklin County Commissioners have a vote scheduled for 12/18 to kick in $45 million more. All three commissioners are publicly yes votes already. Train has left the station in Columbus. Plans for new digs: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018/12/06/plans-revealed-potential-new-stadium-columbus Cincy porn coming soon. I would expect Columbus, Nashville, & Miami to follow soon thereafter, as I think they are all targeting 2021, like Cincy. So is Austin, but I expect mishaps & delays there, because Precourt. And do not forget St. Louis: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018...tee-passes-resolution-new-mls-stadium-project We could have SIX stadiums simultaneously under construction next year. Seven in total if you count the finishing touches in Minny. Happy Holidays MLS fans.
Let us keep the updates coming from Minny, Cincy, Columbus, Nashville, Miami, Austin, & St. Louis. Maybe NY and NE will decide to join in soon.
Phoenix Rising has the land and financing in place for 25k stadium in Scottsdale. A billionaire Chinese partner has been added to the ownership group as well.
What are the 6? Cincinnati, Nashville and who all else? I would be surprised if Miami is under construction in 2019. Is Columbus really slated to start construction by end of 2019?

If these votes go well, will that be the point where we hear the new ownership/takeover is confirmed, and the Crew is truly saved? Living another day is always worth celebrating I guess. Having a hope is worth celebrating. But I have not had the joy of considering this a done deal.

================================ And best thing about all these new stadiums ? NO TURF NO DOMES NO NFL SHARED - Seattle and Atlanta are exceptions that work, but we don't need anymore of them right now. We have some teams in SSS that still don't draw well, they need work on putting more butts in seats
It would help if the turf was actually grass colored. As it is it may as well be blue. At least then you'd be able to pick out the Seattle jerseys.
Uh, I listed them in the post. 1. Cincy: 12/18 groundbreaking 2. Nashville 3. Columbus. Yes. 2019. New stadium is targeted for 2021. Mapfre repurposing starts after 2020 season. Construction will start on site next year. 4. Miami. They are targeting 2021 for the stadium. Now, unlike up north, winter weather not a factor in Miami, but most likely, they need to start in 2019 to be ready by 2021. 5. Ditto Austin. They do not even have a temp site to play in and are not looking for one. Stadium ready for 2021 means 2019 start. 6. St. Louis. MLS likes two teams coming in at once. Am sure they would loke Austin/#28 to come in in 2021. They need a site.
And that list does not count the touches in Minny. Nor the fact that MLS is already talking about beyond 28 teams. Phoenix seems serious. Sacramento could start digging tomorrow if MLS liked the ownership group. And I bet SA could get something going pretty quick if the Spurs group is still in after Austin fiasco. MLS will almost certainly announce #27/#28 before the season starts. And would not be leaking on 28+ if there were not strong bids beyond #28. #29 will get announced in 2019, if not #30. And with PSV now occupying the Miami slot, #29 could become #28 if he falters, so get started ASAP.
No. It's not clear exactly where the Austin stadium stands. PSV will get the lease completed with city this month. CAA has been hired for project management with Gensler as architects. But no date posted for groundbreaking? Do they do outdoor construction work year round in Austin?
I know you didn't state anything as fact and are just saying it is possible. So, I am offering my prediction. I think it is EXTREMELY unlikely all of those are under construction by end of 2019....extremely. I would consider betting a lot of money that won't happen. 3 is my prediction (not counting Minnesota). I see an outside shot at 4.
They don't. I never said they did. Did you fail reading comp? What I said was there COULD BE six (or more) NEW stadiums (thus not counting Portland upgrades) under construction simultaneously in 2019 (thus likely excluding the finishing touches of Minny's). But if you just want to count construction on MLS stadiums in 2019, it could be EIGHT. And this is not rocket science here, if you want the stadium ready in 2021, you gotta start digging in 2019. Yes, I get that official start dates have not been finalized beyond Cincy. And that stadium deals a tricky. But Nashville & Columbus are certainties. Miami & Austin not quite as definite, but close. Miami could play in temp digs for another year if necessary, but Austin has no place to play if McKalla falls apart. And MLS will want #28 to enter in 2021 with Austin & have a stadium ready if possible. And all of them SSS. And all grass, save for Portland (maybe someday). 1. Minnesota. Finishing touches on the Loon Pond. 100% certainty. 2. Portland. Upgrades. 100% certainty. 3. Cincy. 12/18 grounbreaking. 100% certainty. Entering in 2019. Nippert for 2 years. 4. Columbus. This deal is DONE. 99.999999%. Two projects. BoG meeting today. City in for $50 mil. State in for $15 as of today. County vote for $45 on Tuesday with all 3 publicly on board and one attending Crew announcement parties. My guess would be MLS holds off until after the county vote on Tue, but ownership is chomping at the bit. We have to hire a coach/GM & start selling ST. Ownership announcement next week. Coach/GM/Stadium stuff will follow rapidly. 5. Austin. Always gonna be linked with Columbus. I am sure PSV/MLS will want to announce Austin shortly after Columbus. Sounds as if deal is near finished. PSV & NIMBY factors take certainty down 95%. Motivation is high as there is no temp home in place. PSV is cheap and won't want to pay for one. 6.-7. Nashville & Miami. Plans to enter in 2020 & stadium targets for 2021. Both do have plans to play in a temp spit for a year, so could stand delays. But Nashville has their stuff together. 99%. Miami less so, so more chance of delay. 8. #28. St. Louis. This one is speculative, but the ducks are aligning on the pond pretty quick. MLS is already leaking info on expanding beyond 28, whichmI take to mean. #28 is close, and there is at least a #29 looking pretty strong as well (Phoenix). I would expect MLS to try to get to 32 before the WC in 2026. Then hit pause & see where we are. But all those prospective owners will want to be in before that to take advantage of the soccer boom it will provide. I would say 32 by 2024. Anyway, mucho excited on many levels. Time will tell if I am right or not.
