My favorite religious symbol on a badge is Armenia. Google that and check it out. It is partly there as a territorial claim, partly religious heritage.
How has Egypt not managed a shot on goal, with all the human pinball going on inside the Russian penalty area?
I've always liked the Mexican one, which derives from Aztec religion. When migrating from the North, Huitzilipochtli told the Mexica/Aztecs to settle where they found an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in its talons. The Mexica/Aztecs did so and founded Tenochtitlan. This also could feed into political discourse, particularly related to Chiapas, as it focuses on Aztec and not Mayan iconography (Chiapas being in the Maya region). And Russia scores 2-0
Let's hope that Group B somehow develops in such a way that finishing first is a big advantage and something worth fighting for in match 3.
That sure looked like it was in the box. And VAR... agrees! PK to Egypt. 3-1 and Egypt pulls back to the most dangerous lead in soccer. (I guess it can be any two-goal lead; not just 2-0)
It's like Putin threatened Russian team with gulag to motivate them. Then again, results are against weak teams. Real test in knockout round
Someone at Fox's research department screwed up (no way) because Stu Holden doubled down on Tony Meola's claim from the first game that Ignashevich hasn't played for Russia since 2011. He played in all 3 of their games in Euro 2016. He missed 6 games total between 2011 and 2016. He retired after Euro 2016, but came back to the squad in May 2018.
