As long as it's in conjunction with a new 6, this is a good move from Jose. Carrick in a spot role here and there can surely prove himself very useful. And hopefully, he can go out on a high, winning the title one last time.
Agreed. We can't overstate the value of he brings to the club on and off the pitch. If most of us here are right, Jose will bring in 4 or possibly five regular starters to the squad. Carrick won't be a regular starter next season but his contribution will still be significant.
👏 Congratulations to @Carras16 - he's making the 700th club appearance of his career! #MUFC #SOUMUN pic.twitter.com/xxtKqGki3i— Manchester United (@ManUtd) May 17, 2017

Same here. Been wondering the reason behind his absence since the team has been named as well, with the season well over in France.
If I got this right, only Ron, Tevez and Evra are the only prominent players from that team to still be active, Carrick aside. Ron will have just played the CL final and getting ready for the Confed Cup so it's understandable he's not coming. Tevez is in China still and not sure he'd be invited anyway. Which leaves Pat and kind of a mystery...
Pat's Instagram post announcing he will take part in that game is awesome. You can see the love he has for United and how happy he is to be playing in that game. Looking better than ever too, from a physical point of view.
.@Carras16 has signed a new contract extension, keeping him at #MUFC until June 2018. https://t.co/Olqw90rAK7 pic.twitter.com/FAeWsxDBVb— Manchester United (@ManUtd) May 27, 2017
Another great addition has been confirmed for Carrick's testimonial: Louis Saha. Excited to see him as well.
