^If this looks like your Christmas tree, you probably also think VvD or CR7 should have won the 2019 Ballon d'Or. You're not mainstream, you think and see things differently than others. And we're all very impressed.
opta said ribery with 38 dribbles, iniesta with 26 dribbles though. https://www.theguardian.com/football/datablog/2012/jul/02/euro-2012-statistics-opta-data
35th hattrick for Leo. two stunning goals. 35 - @FCBarcelona's Lionel Messi has become the player with the most hat-tricks in @LaLigaEN history (35), surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo (34). Yea but it should still be compared to CR all career hattrick not just his seasons with Real Madrid. Then again, since the previous hattrick record holder in La liga was CR, I guess its inevitable people are going to compare it.
by watching the full match i think they had more dribbles than whoscored's stats. still it quite amazing to see messi is so consistent dribbler at international tournament. how many dribbles did maradona complete at 1982,1990 and 1994 though?
Don't know other than Maradona holds single tournament (WC86) record with 53 and Messi holds the World Cup overall record of successful dribbles. Most Dribbles in World Cup since 1966 110 Messi (19 games) 105 Maradona (21 games) 78 Jairzinho (16 games) 61 Kempes (18 games) 60 Hazard (11 games) 56 Robben (15 games)
pretty much prove messi being a clearly better and more consistent dribbler at international level than maradona
Messi is definitely a better dribbler than Maradona. Maradona does utilise more skills, but that doesn’t really make him better. Messi is a better pure dribbler without doubt.
It's the only statistical comparison we have. Also Messi has now repeated the goal of the century thrice so there's that too. There was a good quote about this, Ronaldinho has ten ways of beating one player, Messi has one way of beating ten players.
i think maradona has better ball control aka first touch than messi. of course he also has more tricks to his game. but when it comes to dribbling, messi is clearly superior. messi rely on his god like close ball control, glue ball to his feet, quick burst and master of body feint,la croqueta. thats why he beat defenders so easily and even at 32 years old,he still leave them to death. maradona relied more on his strength,he also didnt keep the ball really close to his feet like messi. you can watch his goal vs england and messi vs getafe, you will see the difference between them iniesta probably is only dribbler close to messi's stye. of course messi is much faster
