^ He also abused some poor Valencia player right by the corner flag. Early in the second-half, IIRC. I thought that was pretty awesome!

    Translated from :

    http://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbo...84143/fc-barcelona-barca-leo-messi-50000.html

Messi enters the select club of 50,000

The Argentine beat Getafe a round number of minutes played with Barca, something that had only done before Xavi and Puyol

Leo Messi has said everything and have excelled all kinds of figures. Goals, assists, matches ... but the Argentine crack passed on Sunday against Getafe a new stratospheric figure. Messi reached 50,000 minutes played with the shirt of Barca in official match. In this way, the Argentine crack entered a select club of which only Xavi Hernández and Carles Puyol are part .

Specifically, Messi adds 50,062 minutes and placed in second position, above 50,026 Puyol but far from the 58,673 with which Xavi Hernándezconcluded his time at Barça before going to play in Qatar .

That privileged number of minutes Messi has achieved in 619 games in which he has been a starter in 549 and in what has scored 534 goals. Currently Leo is separated by 8611 minutes of Xavi , which would be 96 full games, approximately, so everything points, after his recent renovation, that Messi will end his career as the player who has played the most minutes in the history of FC Barcelona .

Lineker is considered a club legend and has returned to Camp Nou numerous times. Yet it took Barcelona traveling to London for this to occur.

    Gary Lineker on Instagram:
"Absolute delight to finally get to meet the man I believe to be the greatest footballer of all time, and as it turns out @leomessi is also a complete gent."

@Bada Bing what are your sources for Messi's assists. I saw tweets during the match tonight that it was his 148th for Barca. And always thought he had 3 in World Cups.
Also interesting how much more he assisted Suarez compared to Eto'o.

PS: The performance vs Girona was really sublime. The first 45 minutes were beautiful.

CR always ride on his team great performance, not the other way around.

In 2008 semifinal and final he missed his penalies , against Barcelona and Chelsea. In 2014 CL final, his team conceided first and then his teammates scored 3 times , all he did was scoring a meaningless penalty . which he celebrated as he just scored winning hattrick . He had no hand on RM first 3 goals.

When Portugal reached semifinal in 2006, CR scored just once. He didnt even play in 2016 Euro final, and the only highlight would be those 2 goals against Hungary.

I see morons comparing Ronaldo’s feat of reaching 300 La Liga goals in less games than Messi. Well no shit , he came into the league in his prime while Messi was a teenager when he started. Messi still boasts a higher GPG over his career.
