Absolutely ridiculous. Something is up. Karsdorp can spend the rest of this season and next summer to sort it out. That's 10 months to get right. See ye in 18/19 pal. Sadly a complete dud of a signing, at least for this season anyway.
Strootman x2 Rudiger Florenzi x2 Mario Rui Emerson Karsdrop You can say Nura, Tuminello, and Luca Pellegrini as well. It just doesn't add up. How is it possible to have this many of the same severe injury over such a short span? It isn't even an extremely common injury. Yes, it happens to players in this sport, however nowhere near as frequent as what we are seeing. I just do not understand what is going on. There must be some piece of workout equipment or some form of exercise they are doing at Trigoria that is weakening our player's knees or something.
Director of Performance Darcy #Norman and Head Performance Coach Ed #Lippie may leave at the end of the season https://t.co/NXfoTSpvh0— RomaPress (@ASRomaPress) October 27, 2017
The Strootman and Rüdiger ones either happened or began on national team duty. Emerson got hacked in a game iirc. Karsdorp is a disaster for our medical staff. We bought damaged goods and you have to wonder if an overcompensation to one side while favoring the other played a role, a la Strootman. Guys are clearly being given the green light too early on a regular basis.
I'm now gonna start sweating bullets over Schick btw. God knows what our 'spin the wheel to clear a player' medical staff overlooked with him.
#Karsdorp undergoes successful surgery https://t.co/Lz4SwsT4tw— RomaPress (@ASRomaPress) October 27, 2017 He will be back to training before the end of the season, hopefully he is 100% fit for next year.
Wasn't Norman part of Bayern's fitness team, maybe not head of it though? I don't recall Bayern having acl issues. And I'm pretty sure he still works with the German NT in some capacity... I'm not sure he's an issue when it comes to this.
It is happening under his watch . He can request changes to training sessions, food preparation, field conditions, etc. Pallotta went to great lengths to employ him in this role. He had all new exercise equipment brought in. Keeping the players fit and healthy is 100% his responsibility. Obviously some of these are freak accidents, but there are just too many ACL tears. something is wrong somewhere.... No other explanation for this number of occurrences.
From my understanding ACL tears can be mitigated by 2 things; stretching and strengthening the quadriceps and hamstrings. I can only assume we are not adequately addressing one or both of those issues.
The squat is the best exercise for quads and hamstrings. I assume our fitness team has them doing it. The question is how. I sure hope they don't squat on the Smith machine in any case...
Yeah, you'd have to be worried about Schick for sure. Would anyone be surprised if he comes down with a bad injury, just to really piss us off. I honestly dont think he should be played until he has a ton of training under his belt. We dont need to risk him. So until he can be confidently judged to be 100% definitely fit and niggle free, he shouldnt play in a game.
They do them (not on the Smith machine), with kinda low weights though. Our fitness staff is said to be pretty "progressive" (for European standards) when it comes to these things. That was the reason they've been hired for in the first place. By us and the German NT before. Yet European football is still decades behind US sports when it comes to acknowledging the benefits of strength training. Too many stubborn people.
Emerson said that to help speed up his recovery he stopped eating fast food and fizzy drinks?!?!?!? FFS, as a professional athlete you shouldn't be eating that stuff to begin with. Note to Emerson, DO NOT go on the Higuain / Cassano diet. http://www.calciomercato.com/en/news/roma-defender-i-quit-fast-food-to-speed-up-recovery-time-91609
So when do we shut Ninja down? Christmas break will help but that's a month away. He said he had to take painkillers to play vs Lazio and only at 80% of his ability. This is how his groin problem gets worse... @Wolfbeatseagle @La Magica
