Hey DC, with your job, do you get to watch a movie uninterrupted or do you get to see it in pieces over time? Jealous you watch so many, I virtually never go to the movies these days unless we really want to see something and even then we'll do a Saturday matinee. SPR was great but Eddie will tell you it can't hold a candle to Saving Ryan's Privates
Sometimes your memory is incredible. FACT, I have never gotten past the first scene of SPR before I either fall asleep or turn it off.
Next WWE PPV is in three weeks and in all likelihood (unless I get a job this week), I'll be there (it's in Philly).
But i there that much difficulty in making kids movies? Don't get me wrong, I like them, but they are designed for children and are extraordinarily simple and predictable in plot. It' the same thing rehashed over and over
The Hangover = Funniest moments were in the commercials leaving the movie a complete let down. Napoleon Dynamite = Unfunny. Transformers 1 - Infinity = The only reason to see any of them would be Megan Fox. Except she is a TERRIBLE actress so its a wash. Saving Private Ryan = 1st half of the movie.......stunning and incredible. 2nd half of the movie = overblown and extended A Team episode. For that reason I completely understand why it lost the Oscar for Best Picture to Shakespeare In Love.
Really? Shakespeare in Love was horrid. I mean I can appreciate great dramatic movies, epics, comedies, classics, action flicks, almost anything has something to offer in the way of entertainment, but that movie was unbearable. And what are people expecting from Transformers? It's Transformers(which I think has always been about Alien Robots, yes that is sarcasm), and it is Michael Bay, it is pretty obvious what is being made. If you do not enjoy an action flick, it probably won't be for you. I think people take movies too seriously. They're entertainment.
Yep. Although I wouldn't really call those things bat like. A good horror flick, in fact, excellent. That is if you like movies like that. I thought the camera work, light, angles was amazing. The surroundings and the movie scenario is so scary, it's "freakishly" pleasantful to watch. (Pardon the pun).
I enjoy horror flicks good or bad for differing reasons, good ones are so rare though I'll check it out for sure
I liked it to. Too bad it involved cute girls getting killed. Check out The Mist. It's a really good one.
There isn't much to do once the movies have started and all the patrons are parked and settled. So, generally, I can sit and watch a movie all the way through. Anything I do miss I can catch the over the next 2-4 weeks when I'll be watching the same thing ad nauseam. It may have changed with the release of DVD and all that, but at one time I had probably seen The Dark Knight as many times as anyone in the world (30+ times). I also bring my girlfriend once a week to watch whatever she wants (free date).
Agreed, an eerie, well shot (in the UK) movie. I really enjoyed his previous film too, Dog Soldiers. Picked it up for $4 ages ago and found it silly, a little creepy and bloody funny. Sample quote: I am a huge fan of the genre with the exception of the torture flicks which feel more like snuff films than entertainment. I enjoyed the first Saw movie but all of the ones since then (inc Hostel) are just not my cup of tea.
Really, UK? As soon as I read about The Descent, reviewers talked about Dog Soldiers, so put it in my netflix queue. I like all Saw movies. I just can't get enough of them, although the more they make, they dumber they are. Hostel movies are made poorly. Good idea, poor executions. I enjoyed 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later as well.
I know its an oldie but the first Halloween film still freaks me out what a great movie and concept for its time.
1) I think it was shot on location in Scotland and at Pinewood. Like you said, the director knows what he's about and you wouldn't know it wasn't shot in the US. 2) Time to bump it up, I may even go home and watch it tonight. Bloody good film. Very very British. 3) 28 Days Later was good. 28 Weeks Later, so-so. Shaun of the Dead, genius PS. The main reason I love DS is due to the influences. Taken from Wikipedia: The film contains homages to H.G. Wells, the films The Evil Dead, Zulu, Aliens, and Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan My favourite film is in the Evil Dead trilogy (BC vs TAoD). One of my favourite authors is HG Wells. Zulu is in my top 10 all time films and I've seen it a dozen times at least. Aliens, one of the best films of the 80's and Wrath of Khan, the gold standard for all Star Trek films.
I enjoyed 28 days a lot(Halloween as well) was disappointed in 28 weeks though. What about High tension? I think was it's American name any reviews?
