Based on the SI article I read today regarding Castillo, it sounds like they didn't pony up the agreed $2M loan fee portion on time. If true then the answer would definitively be "no".
Why indeed? Sounds like Castillo went rogue. http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/2016/08/01/fabian-castillo-fc-dallas-trabzonspor-transfer-saga
the whole Castillo transfer has been a failure but at least DC are getting paid. Hope it was worth it to Fabian, the way it went about.
Fabian Castillo was at FCDallas, not DC, and they actually increased their price after the initial non-payment by Trabzonspor. I'd call that a win, not failure. Also, please give it a rest about "respectable Euro leagues". I know you think European football is magical (magisterial, perhaps?), but it's tiring to read your posts insisting on moving to "Europe" over and over again with every player ever discussed.
I watched Hollingshead play in Castillo's spot this week in CCL and thought he brought something extra to the position that I never saw from Castillo.
That he can play for the USMNT, probably. To imply that Hollingshead is better than Castillo is laughable.
My mistake. Dallas. Magisterial....what a lovely word. Hey you don't have to read my posts. And it's been a failure by how Fabian disobeyed his club wishes to secure the deal but I guess it doesn't matter so long as they got that $$$
I know I don't have to read your posts, but it's not just about me and I like reading other things you post--when I don't know exactly what you're gonna say like it's chanted out of a hymnal. Is the "failed" transfer failed because the player did something without permission from his club? This sort of thing does happen fairly frequently in the world of professional soccer.
Watching RBNY and LA last night - LA really felt Zardes' absence from my perspective. Their attack was easily shepherded into non-threatening situations without his movement, pace, and physicality.
Yet it's not hard for me to imagine Hollingshead being the smarter player. Castillo is a dynamo, but his IQ leaves a lot to be desired, sometimes. I haven't watched him a ton this season, but I'm often amazed at how often he penetrates defense only to make a terrible decision.
Absolutely true, often Castillo will do the hard work, get behind the defense, having beaten defenders and have absolutely no plan. Hollingshead is much less spectacular but is more cerebral, has a plan and is prepared to execute it.
Yes, Lletget is pedestrian. I think Zardes is valuable, especially coming from midfield as a complement to Gio. Dealing with just Gio is one thing, dealing with both Gio and Zardes is difficult.
Zardes may miss the rest of the 2016 season with a broken right foot. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/66/u...-zardes-sidelined-by-broken-foot?ICID=SP_HN_1 Zardes has played in 31 out of 33 matches for the United States since debuting in January 2015. Best of luck to him in his recovery!
Foot breaks can be tricky and take time to heal. Won't be surprised it will be next year before seeing him back. Best of luck to GZ in recovery.
Hopefully Gyasi has played his last game for LA and gets a nice little New Year's present to kick off 2017.
Horrible luck on the foot. Hope he heals quickly and completely before he is back in competition. Stud move playing for about 30 minutes after the injury.
