It's metaphorical: "I was still young, looking forward to the open road ahead, without realizing I was already trapped in a garage...."
Freddy adu has been my happy place this decade. anyone else feel this way when down about USA soccer?
No. Adu is just another sad example of soccer's failures in this country and USSF's never-ending mismanagement. Will we ever be rid of the morons who run the sport here?
anyone who thinks freddy adu RIGHT NOW couldnt be as good or better than the players playing attacking mid for the USMNT arent paying attention. pretty sure he could get 1 long range shot on goal vs england and some paltry stats in bundesliga 2 if he started every match there.................
Don’t watch much Greuther Furth but I did watch an entire USL season of Freddy Adu over the last nine months. Freddy RIGHT NOW would have sat down in the middle of the center circle and started crying in the 15th minute last night without ever touching the ball.
I'm all for bashing the powers that be in this country, but to blame them for wasted talent like Freddy's is a bridge to far for even me.
Wow. Within a few posts of each other are two of the hottest of hot takes that I can recall! 1. USSF is to blame for Freddy 2. Freddie should play AM for the USMNT
Is there any wonder this thread remains on the front page of the forum? The magic of Freddy and his career just continue to keep us entertained.
I think it is because the Freddy Adu story, in many ways, is a proxy of the US Soccer story: a projected path into the future built on great hope of fulfilling the dreams of many, only to come up frustratingly short of expectations--with a few glimpses of success along the way choked out by fatal flaws that cannot seem to be escaped from.
