I have sworn off watching soccer for a while. After the collapse of the USMNT (really, players, Trinidad and Tobago? Seriously, that is some Major League Suckage losing to T&T) and the debacle of the Fire v. NYRB in the play-in, play-off game, I am done for a while. I still have the DVR set tape some Bundesliga games, the Premier League (obligatory, Premiership Sucks, for @bunge) and any International friendlies, but I don't bother watching. I just either fast forward to the goal(s) or hit delete. I don't have the energy, as the USMNT and Fire sucked that right out of me for now.
So far I have watched, Arsenal-Tottenham,Bayern munich-augsburg, Barcelona-leganes, and now Manutd-Newcastle. I also have recorded and fast forwarded to the goals hertha berlin-monchengladbach, roma-Lazio, leverkusen-leipzig, Leicester-man city, and psg-nantes. next I will watch ath madrid-real madrid.
I watched this one too as well as Man U yesterday and I thought of bunge a few times because EPL sucks. So I really dislike MLS not wrapping up the season before the international break that completely disrupts the script. Can someone please remind me of what is going on now?
Speaking of shitty EPL sucks and rubber dicks, would any of you mugs be interested in a meet up? I have been in the past but was drinking alone and thought maybe a "drinking brew for breakfast" Boxing Day at the Globe would be more fun with a group. Kind of a full Irish breakfast and then drinks drink's drink's (for those that drink). The games are usually over by noon so one can get a cab ride home and be fresh for the next day. Just a thought.
Less than 4️⃣ hours to go until the #WorldCupDraw! So, let's have a look at Pot 4, which features some returnees and newcomers 👀 #DieMannschaft pic.twitter.com/eb0xDqqBls— germanfootball_dfb (@DFB_Team_EN) December 1, 2017
GREATEST.POST.EVER! For those of you on Tapatalk or the BigSoccer app: It says: Less than 4 hours to go until the #WorldCupDraw! So, let's have a look at Pot 4, which features some returnees and newcomers #DieMannschaft -----------------------------------Chicago Fire Serbia --------------------------Morocco Nigeria-------------------------Panama Australia-----------------------South Korea Japan--------------------------Saudi Arabia Absolutely brilliant. I had to look up the twitter account and it just makes it so much better: "Welcome to the official English #DieMannschaft account, bringing you news from the Germany national teams & the DFB! Deutsch: @DFB_Team | Español: @DFB_Team_ES"
The groups are a bit interesting: Team and FIFA rankings (yes, I know about the FIFA rankings....). Group A: Russia (65), Uruguay (21), Egypt (31), Saudi Arabia (63) Group B: Portugal (3), Spain (6), Iran (32), Morocco (40) Group C: France (9), Peru (11), Denmark (12), Australia (39) Group D: Argentina (4), Croatia (17), Iceland (22), Nigeria (50) Group E: Brazil (2), Switzerland (8), Costa Rica (26), Serbia (37) Group F: Germany (1), Mexico (16), Sweden (18), South Korea (59) Group G: Belgium (5), England (15), Tunisia (27), Panama (56) Group H: Poland (7), Colombia (13), Senegal (23), Japan (55) 2 minute analysis: Chile, ranked 10 in the World, does not make it. Neither do Italy, Holland, or the US, of course. Group A sucks everything. Russia is the bottom ranked team (but, of course, Russia did not have to qualify, so that is not much of a surprise) Group B is should be a blood letting between between Spain and Portugal (I hope). Both should advance, though, as Iran and Morocco are, shall we say, not so good. Group C all the games could be pretty tough. France, Peru and Denmark are ranged 9, 11 and 12 respectively. Australia is never very impressive. Group D is rough (Argentina v. Nigeria again?) I like Iceland's chances, actually. Group E may see Brazil dominate or Brazil may be out, as the Swiss and Serbs (despite a low ranking) are pretty good. Also, look out for Costa Rica, as they made the US look like bitches. Group F is the "Group of Death" (if there is one). Germany and ANY of the other three could advance. Mexico is likely to go home early (I hope). Mexico and Sweden ranked 16 and 18, respectively. Wow, South Korea is ranked really low, at 59th. Lowest ranked team that qualified. I have not followed South Korea in quite a while. I did not know they suck now. Group G England should advance unless the pull "an England" and lose to Panama or Tunisia. Belgium should advance, of course. Group G Current World Number 7 Poland should be happy!
Agreed. Groups A, C and D are potentially the most wide open. A is just a cluster f*ck. C is super tight, with teams that could go pretty far in the tournament (although none a serious title challenger). D is, as you point out, a "******ing free for all." Of course, none of this matters, as die Mannschaft will roll to a second straight World Cup. I cannot predict the final yet, as we don't know the match ups, but Germany will win it all.
No, Germany has been my team since, at least, the 1982 World Cup, when I could only watch in Spanish, late at night, in my bedroom, on a 9" black and white tv. I ALWAYS root for Germany, against every other team, even the US.
Which team is Jogi going to send, though? He doesn't need to field the best Germany side, just a team good enough to do the job.
NCAA Quarterfinal: Michigan State @ Indiana, 7:00 - Already 1-0 to Sparty, Sierakowski with a flashing header in the second minute. https://www.btn2go.com/game/michigan-st-at-indiana-on-12012017
Soo ... trivia time ... Can you name the only 3 teams in the world to have made it to the Round of 16 in each of the last 6 World Cups?
Germany Brazil Mexico Of course, Germany has made it out of the first round (and finished in the top 8) in every World Cup since 1954. Brazil has been out of the first round in every World Cup since 1970. Mexico has the most losses in the World Cup.
Followed by Argentina and Germany. Ay que vivirlas para contarlas. ( roughly Gotta Live Them to Tell the Tale) Mexico's groups have had 14 Brazil and Croatia 10 Uruguay, France and host South Africa 02 Italy and Croatia 98 Netherlands and Belgium 94 Italy, Norway and Ireland Mexico is 1-3-0 in that time against World Cup Champions (FRA, BRA, ITAx2). Mexico has only lost 1 of its last 9 WC group games against European teams. To elaborate on the above, Mexico is 4-4-2 against European teams, our losses to Norway and Portugal. W: CROx2, FRA, IRL T: NED,BEL,ITAx2 L: NOR, POR I will be tight.... but I'd put us above Sweden. Same recipe as '14, try not to get destroyed by the powerhouse...maybe even eek out a point ... beat the weaker team of the group and then duke it out with the European for 2nd place.
