Still, it's part of a worrisome trend. Republicans are targeting Democrats who have said, written, or done things that don't bother the GOP but which do bother Democrats, scream with faux outrage, and then pressure the Dems into firing their own. It started with Al and Sam, and given the success of that tactic, we're going to see a whole lot more of that.
