I somewhat agree with that as well. I think if it was only this trump vs cnn wrestling gif it would be way out of line, because I think as a commentary on what is happening right now it is completely spot on. The absurdity of it all is quite funny. The president of the US in a wrestling match in the first place... Combined with the other cnn things that guy posted I think it's ok for them to check up on it. Doesn't even have to be a personal vendetta, with all the "russian trolls" and botnets on social media and trump sharing stuff originating in alt right and russian propaganda outlets during the campaign, following up on where it comes from might just be standard procedure by now. Finding a juicy connection to russia today or some neo nazis is always a good story. Can't remember where I read it but apparently the guy posted stuff that linked back to his facebook account. Not really hard to find. I doubt cnn went all 007 on his ass.
I believe there are a number of decisions that uphold pretty broad use in the case of parody. As for noteriety, CNN let that cat out of the bag the second they decided to absolutely shit themselves over nothing.
As a former litigator who did a significant amount of Lanham Act work, I can tell you that the parody defense is not as broad as you seem to be implying. Courts haven't exactly come up with a consistent framework for dealing with such cases. That being said, IMO, CNN would have a really weak Lanham Act claim here.
That's why I said "I believe". I don't know. I'm drawing on generic memories of parody use of logos and such. In any case, CNN lost their shit over a douchebag President posting a weird gif created by some weirdo. They could have just as easily completely ignored it.
But isn't he the same weirdo that created the picture with stars of David on the faces of CNN employees
This is fascinating http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-dr...rged-documents-to-the-washington-press-corps/ "But something interesting happened between May and June: someone used the Winner document as the basis to create a forgery of a different top-secret document that named a specific Trump aide who had colluded with Russia. This forgery was apparently shopped around to journalists, including Rachel Maddow, who described what happened on her show last night. So…who had access to the Winner file before it was published? Who’s peddling this stuff? Was it from a Trump opponent who meant it to be taken seriously but didn’t quite do the job well enough? Was it from a Trump supporter who hoped someone in the mainstream media would publish it and then look like a fool? Was it from someone in the intelligence community who wanted to sow seeds of doubt in news organizations that receive stolen documents? Good question! As Maddow mentioned, two other news organizations have had to retract stories recently based on problems with “sourcing.” This might be part of a concerted effort to discredit the media looking into the Trump-Russia connection." I'll bet it's the last one. Given the level of sophistication here, this ain't Boris Epshteyn or Corey Lewandowski. It's the Russians. @The Jitty Slitter
Anti-semantic assholes should not be ignored, dude should be called out for that. (same with homophobes, racists, ect.), bring their hate to the light.
I hate those guys too, but sometimes, we do go overboard on puns and various other wordplay games in these threads.
Apparently, the guy CNN tracked down does not like jeux de mots. Perhaps he hates all jeux, I don't know.
Initially, that's what they thought, but he's apparently some middle-aged Rascal-scooter riding blob. Or Gerald Brovlovski.
No, the Redditor who made the Trump/CNN GIF is not 15 years old https://www.mediamatters.org/blog/2...who-made-trumpcnn-gif-not-15-years-old/217143
Wigger does a pro-Trump, anti-fake news rap video. Enjoy! Let's see, whom do I want to torment? I think @spejic will appreciate this. @Auriaprottu will use ice picks to destroy his eardrums. @Dr. Wankler and @chad work or worked in music.
1) that's NEG rep. 2) that's basically JamieBMore's and BBSean's posting history summarized in rhyme. 3) I made it to CNN is ISIS / so is NBC" at roughly 70 seconds. 4) I've never worked in music in anyway. Well, I ran lights at a dance in high school. I got in trouble for using a spotlight to zoom in on the rear ends of girls.
