My understanding is that Arnim has wanted some help for a while. I have never spoken with him about this though.
That makes sense considering he used to have co-owners. I just didn't think it would be someone as big as Mansueto.
This guy http://www.enriquealvaradodesign.com/blog/thelbd/chicago-fire did a great job on just a blog post....I'm sure a paid consultant would do better than that píece of shít space invaders logo from last night.
Although the above imagined logo looks even more like what a CFD logo would look like rather than the current a CFSC logo. This is the actual Chicago Fire Department .... logo
And to be clear, there is absolutely 100% nothing wrong with the original logo In fact is the best of the earlier MLS logos And really top 2 or 3...4 of the current logos
It is the bat signal...if Batman was a combination of Grimace (purple) and Bert & Ernie (yellow and reddish). It looks like something my 5 year old would draw... and I don't have kids. It is one of the stupidest things I have even seen in my life. It is even less representative of the team or the city than Nashville's abomination.
It's sort of magnificently infuriating isn't it? Why the lifeless font? Why the purple (or maybe a lighter shade of blue, but still) bordering? Why are there FIVE colors? Why not spell out "Football Club" when there is so much room? Why is the interior circle the same color as the exterior? What on earth is that shape meant to communicate or connote? And the thing that drives me personally the craziest, why is the thing in the middle scaled so small? There's so much dead open space around it. Fill the middle space! The closest sports logo I can think of to this thing is the Astros: Except that makes sense and succeeds on basically every one of those questions.
I kind of figured they'd do something akin to this t-shirt the Fire made several years ago. I'd prefer no logo change, but at least this still connotes the Fire and the city of Chicago.
Wilt just started working with the USL head office. I don't think he's coming back any time soon. He may love this club, but I think that he prefers starting new projects.
This new job is perfect for Peter. As much as I love the man, he's too busy being the Johnny Appleseed of American soccer. I wouldn't want to take him from that.
It is recognizable- people recognize me as a member of the local fire department all of the time when I have it on :\ Hyperbole, of course (it has happened on multiple occasions though), but still, I get the desire to change it if you're going to change everything. As a logo for a team that, for better or worse, is called the Chicago Fire, it is perfect. The fact that they're keeping the name, changing the logo to whatever that thing is, and couldn't even coordinate the new kits for the change is just... I'm still floored by how inept this all is...
So, if there is a new _____________ (insert title of one who will oversee soccer ops) to be unveiled, does it happen at logo launch or later? Hopefully before unveiling of new coach by a short amount of time. Have multiple unveilings or one massive one?
