For anyone here with Rhode Island ties this is must try: I picked up two 6 packs a couple days ago. I can picture myself sitting on my tractor mowing the lawn and one of these in my drink holder. While its not the best Shandy out there this is one of those beers that tastes better and better the more you drink it. My first taste was a bit confusing. Beer then a hit of lemon. By the time I was half way through it was coming together better.
My wife's family is from Newport (year-rounders). Never had this, but I have had "Nasty-gansett" on a couple of occasions.
Its new this year. Nasty-gansett is not the same as it use to be years ago. its actually not too bad. Certainly take that over a bud or a miller if those were my only choices
Jealous ... Try the one made with lunar rocks, or the one with smoked goats' brains, if available, and report back.
Trying to help a group of friends to start a craft brewery in Croatia. Since lot of people from BigSoccer owe me a beer or two, here is your chance to pay for it https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/...nging-craft-brewing-and-craft-beer-to-croatia If you will make donation, please put "BigSoccer member" or "for Sleeper" in notes. Thanks
So sunday was an interesting night. My brother and I tried a shiner sampler. Splitting a Boch, Kosmos, White Wing, Kolsch, premium and a Black Lager. Then we split a large growler of Two Road Heffewiezen. Then my brother decides to clean his fridge pulling out a NESB 668 neighbor of the beast, a Shed Mountain ale and two Wachusetts strawberry white ales. may have been one or two more but I lost count. Needless to say yesterday morning was rather uncomfortable.
Made it out to Dogfish Head. Didn't get to do the tour, but did some tasting. Chicory Stout Festina Peche Firefly Ale Midas Touch Palo Santo Marron Positive Contact Red & White Free samples! Also ordered a 60 Minute IPA for cheap, then grabbed a beer brat. Went outside and met the owner, playing bocce ball. It was a great visit.
@freekickwiz ... my older bro and his ladyfriend go down to Dogfish Head all the time. And that's not hyperbole, either. It's a 2-hour ride from Philly to their brewpub in Rehoboth Beach, DE, but they must've made that trek at least 4-5 times so far in this calendar year. My parents are both retiring by the end of 2014, and Rehoboth is one of the towns they're considering relocating to. Obviously, it's a place their kids are really proponents of. "Hey, mom, dad, mind watching the kids while we go day-drinking and get fit-shaced?"
I was in my hometown in West Central Illinois last week, and they actually have a new brew pub. Holy crap, it was good. http://www.ironspikebrewpub.com/ If any of you ever wind up in Galesburg, Illinois as part of your witness protection program relocation, I highly recommend it.
another winner from Brooklyn and while I am not a huge Sam Adams fan or and IPA this was rather tasty
Was just in northern Delaware last night. Lewes is an excellent town for drinking Dogfish Head and learning some history.
I'm sure everyone's seen Auston Beerworks' 99-pack of Peacemaker Anytime Ale by now. http://anytimeale.com/ ---- My bro and his GF surprised me with a case of Sierra Nevada Beer Camp 2014 a month or so ago, and I gotta say, I've been slowly but surely enjoying every single one of them.
