i like the sam adams hefeweizen. actually very good. i've drank the entire 6er. well, i'm starting the last one.....right now.
MMMMMMM, stopped at the East End Brewery after work today and picked up my growler of Big Hop. I think it might be my favorite beer. Though the Nut Brown Ale is pretty good too. Maybe I'll get that tomorrow.
IPA? oooooooooh come on, try something new! i finally got my hands on the orion, for the second time. from okinawa. very good draught lager. try it. very tasty, and refreshing.
Tonight I'm trying the organic pale ale from Wolaver's which is a blend of malt and hops - very good. In the fridge is the cru grand by alesmith which is a dark Belgian style and should be excellent
wolaver's sounds like a small town department store, ca. 1950. unfortunately, or fortunately, my town just raised their alcohol "allowance", i'll call it, for beer. only a couple of years ago. so we're really just getting into the depth and breadth of good beers. maybe the right ipa will convert me. maybe....maybe.
Sorry cris, hadn't forgotten about you I did enjoy the shipyard, a solid brew. It's more of an east coast style IPA and as such isn't as hoppy but we polished off the last two bottles this afternoon and they went down real well. Thanks for the recommendation. If you want to push the ibu boundaries do give the stone, alesmith or hop ottin a go. If you enjoy those then drop some dollars on the ruination but be warned it is not a beer for the hop virgin.
eh, you think the "canoe fuukin" is holdin me back? as far as the hoppier types go? american beer is like making love in a canoe. eh, what? you know, fuukin close to water. old monty python joke. don't quote that, please.
Oh joy, oh rapture, my local Ralphs (a mere 5 minute walk away) has just started stocking Stone IPA 6 packs (for a bargain price of $9 - that's about $2 for a US pint). Heaven just sent beer to my immediate neighbourhood with instructions to drink immediately http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/147/88/?view=beer&sort=topr&start=10 An average rating of A on ba is a huge score and with 1,300+ reviews that's a solid body of reviewers. On a separate, but beer-related, topic I drank the Grand Cru Belgian style from Alesmith on Sunday and it was very, very good. Well worth a go if you're into Belgian style ales. Virtually no carbonation and a complex taste you'll be rewarded for your $10 investment (for a 750ml bottle).
Very good choices here. I usually go for Arrogant Bastard, or some Sierra Nevada. Especially the Summerfest one. Good stuff. But honestly I usually opt for a vodka tonic when I drink.
The bar near me has Arrogant Bastard on tap. It Mondays, a $12 pitcher of AB gets you a dozen wings free. Tis the greatest deal in history.
AB on tap??? *sheds tear* Thats just a lovely situation if I ever heard of one. I have a local market that sells like a million micro brews. I always wanna try new stuff. Some of which I seen recommended here, but I can't keep from grabbing the ole AB.
Ah K squared, do I have news for you. The Yardhouse have Stone Arrogant Bastard on tap as well as IPA and in some locations Ruination!! There should be one in your vicinity
Ohhh of course! I used to live closer to Long Beach where the first Yard House exists. They have a gang of beers on tap there. I have quite a few bars within a very short walking distance from me, but none serve AB. Ruination is straight nectar btw. Are there any Chelsea supporters in Los Angeles? p.s. Good read on the history of Chelsea KD's Boots. Much appreciated. Been a fan since '97, but didn't know anything about the actual first players.
KDB is from LA-ish area. So is Blue Celery. Got me growler tonight! 1/2 gallon of pure wonderful IPA Special Brew! Rocking Abbey Road, then the White Album or Revolver on the stereo and the wife is working late! Par-tay! http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10485/25924
In Cleveland tonight - Had three beers - two were awesome, one OK. It was a Belgian night, by the looks of it! Ommegang Rouge (Flanders Red Ale) - very, very good. As good as any real Belgain Red Houblon Chouffe (Belgian IPA) - maybe one of the best Belgian's I've had, ever. Lindemans Pomme (Lambic) - OK, but waaay to sweet.
You never had Lindemans? Wow. The bar here makes their breakfast syrup with it. Sorry to hear you're in Cleveland.
