Beautiful triumph over Hrvatska the other day, I'm so proud of our boys! Our team is basically 1/3 strength because of the players we lost and we still won! No matter what happens, I'm proud of our guys for battling and actually getting that win when they underestimated us. BTW, I wouldn't read too much into the Finland loss because their style of basketball is RUN AND GUN, meaning that it's a bad matchup for us and that they either have fantastic days like against us, or horrible days. We just ended up getting the short stick that day. Anyways, some pics from the Hrvatska game: WTF look at Domrecant, he looks like a drunk donkey. Our coach kinda looks like a cartoon version of Susic mixed with Hitler.
Croatia are a big team, I was actually really surprised that we pulled the win out somehow but congrats to our guys, they deserved it! Now its do or die to progress further.
We just lost to Macedonia, meaning the end of the road. Nice tournament for our guys, they gave it their best. Svaka cast! I'll never forget the wins over Crna Gora and Hrvatska!
If we only had beaten Finland.. a team that I know aren't better than us.. How did we beat Crna Gora and Croatia but not Finland? God damnit, I'm so upset.
Finland plays Run and Gun, and they just happened to have a good shooting day as opposed to a bad one.. we lost to bad luck basically.
Even the Macedonia game was sort of bad luck.. if Domercant and Teletovic played like they did against Croatia, we would've won.
FT - Macedonia 75-63 Bosnia and Herzegovina Well, Domercant and Teletovic definitely didn't play their best today and the third quarter is where the game was lost. We still had a great tournament, but really could've progressed further. We should've beat either Finland or Macedonia, which should've put us through to the next round. But still, a nice tournament from us. I don't like how tiebreakers are, which by point average. We could've gotten to the second round had we won the tiebreaker. We finished 13th overall out of 24 teams, not bad.
So, Eurobasket 2013 qualification and details have come out. Firstly, the details of the tournament itself: Details of EC 2013: The games will be played in Slovenia, ovviously, on Septmeber 4-22. The top two teams of each group along with the foru best third-placed teams qualify for Eurobasket 2013. The qualifying begins in the summer of 2012.
The Eurobasket 2013 qualifying draaw was rescheduled to December 3th. I hate waiting longer for draws!!!
Aren't we in Pot 2 for the qualifiers? Prvi šešir: Srbija, Turska, Njemačka, Finska, Gruzija, Hrvatska Drugi šešir: Ukrajina, Bugarska, Poljska, Bosna i Hercegovina, Izrael i Italija Treći šešir: Crna Gora, Letonija, Belgija, Portugalija, Mađarska i Švedska Četvrti šešir: Češka, Estonija, Holandija, Švajcarska, Austrija i Azerbejdžan Peti šešir: Bjelorusija, Slovačka, Rumunija, Albanija, Luksemburg i Kipar Šesti šešir: Island
Wow, I haven't seen the pots until now. It'll be a big advantage to be in the second pot, rather than third or fourth. We'll get a lot of minnows in our group and we'll have a much better chance at qualification! Best Group: Croatia BiH Sweden Azerbiajan Luxemborug Worst Group: Serbia BiH Montenegro Czech Republic Slovakia
@ Borac: We played really good at Eurobasket though. If it weren't for the breakdown against Finland we would've advance to the next round. Imagine if Preldzic kept his word and would've played for us tho...
I love Mirza Teletovic. He has an AMAZING jumpshot (at least at his club; he plays more inside on the NT), just like I do in real life.
Best group we could get would probably be - Finland Bosnia Sweden Holland Luxembourg Worst group - Serbia Bosnia Latvia Estonia Belarus
Here's a nice article talking about potential NT players (such as Miralem Halilovic and Sandro Gacic). He also talks about how other countries have been taking away players from us, and more will be taking away players, soon. A nice read, I'd say. http://bosniavolimte.blogspot.com/2011/10/bosnia-basketball-201112-top-10-u21.html
So the Eurobasket 2013 qualification draw is taking place today, I'm really ecited and nervous right now! We tend to get good groups as opposed to bad ones that the football team gets, so I'm really thinking we could get a couple weak, minnowish teams. It also helps that we're in Pot 2.
So here are all the groups - GROUP A: Serbia Montenegro Israel Slovakia Estonia Iceland GROUP B: Germany Bulgaria Sweden Azerbaijan Luxembourg GROUP C: Croatia Ukraine Austria Hungary Cyprus GROUP D: Georgia Bosnia and Herzegovina Latvia Netherlands Romania GROUP E: Finland Poland Belgium Switzerland Albania GROUP F: Turkey Italy Portugal Czech Republic Belarus I love our draw! We get, arguably, the easiest group while avoiding all the toughest Pot A teams (the only teams we have a real chance of losing to). We also drew Netherlands, and in 2005 EC qualifying, we defeated them both times. Georgia will be tough to beat, maybe Latvia, but the others are an automatic two points (maximum). I also love how Serbia gets one of the toughest groups. (and for those who don't know, the top two of each group qualify, alongside the best four third-place teams)
Basically the top two from each group get on. Also, the four best third-place teams from all the groups move on, so no play-off or anything like that. If we don't get top two in this group, we really don't deserve to play in EC 2013. (hosted by Slovenia btw)
Sarajevo born Igor Hadziomerovic has started out strong for Boise State College in the USA. Igor has started four games so far (the first freshman to start since Coby Karl seven years ago for the team) and has put up solid numbers of over 7ppg 1.8rbpg and over two assists per game. Igor played a key role for the Australian U-19 team this summer. Bosnian officials would be smart to see if there is any interest on Igors part to rejoin the Bosnian Basketball family. http://www.eurobasket.com/Bosnia/basketball.asp?NewsID=250801 ----------------------------------------------- So, another young prospect that we should keep an eye on. But knowing our officials, he'll be playing for the senior Australian team in no time.
