The Arsenal v Doncaster Rovers EFL Cup (screw Carabao, it sounds terrible) Emirates Stadium, Borough of Islington, London N5 Wednesday, 20 September 2017 KICKOFF: 1945 UK/1445 Eastern/1145 Pacific US "TV": ESPN3 No terrestrial telly for this one, unfortunately; it's looking like ESPN3 or audio coverage via Arsenal.com. Send out the kids and let them earn a spot in the Europa lineup.
Is that Jeremy Clarkson? We're on ESPN3? Doesn't BeIN (or FOX) have rights to League Cup? Or is that so last year? P.s. League Cup... that's what it's always been called for decades so that's what I call it. But then again I'm one of those people who never has called our stadium by the sponsor's name.
A bunch of Milk Cup games were streamed on ESPN3 today so I imagine it will be the same for tomorrow. I saw LC Beat Ox FC 2-0 today.
My guess: 3-4-3 Ospina Chambers - BFG - Holding AMN - Elnens - Wilshere - LWB (???) Theo - Meaty French Forehead - Iwobi Notes - Chambers and Holding could flip flop. Iwobi is probably a bit gassed but presumably he'll get a rest this weekend with both Sanchez and Ozil starting. No idea who plays LWB, maybe the Jeff? Honestly, if the plan was to play both Monreal and Kola every match, selling Gibbs doesn't make a whole lot of sense as you need cover. It would make more sense to have Monreal and Kola rotate at LWB, move Koscielny to LCB, and have Holding and Chambers rotate at RCB.
📋 Here's how we line up tonight - what do you make of our starting XI?#AFCvDRFC pic.twitter.com/hsr9iHI7Is— Arsenal (@Arsenal) September 20, 2017
Whoa! A Chambers sighting??? Also way odd is to see Sanchez & Giroud starting. Hopefully we'll get a nice goal cushion and those 2 will play no more than 45' (OK, OK I know Wenger's probably going to wait until 60')
I know this is late, but if anyone here has an Xbox, there's an ESPN app that you can download from the Microsoft Store that allows you to play this on your TV in HD.

Even though I hate their music, even Louis Tomlinson of One Direction played for them a few years ago.
I saw bits of the 2nd half we looked disinterested especially Sanchez .who got dispossessed a few times
Gibbs was always going, way too expensive to be a 3rd choice cup player. Sending Bramall (and Jenkinson) on loan is the decision that might be questioned. But I guess that the intention was to not have to play Monreal at CB every game but Wenger apparently has lost trust in Holding and then that's where we're at. I'd play them Mustafi - Holding - Kos and have Mertesacker do some heavy mentoring on Holding (and Chambers and other youngsters) but that would mean a concentrated effort on a defensive tactic and that is something that Wenger haven't done in years.
Just finished watching this on replay... 1. ESPN's stream quality was awesome... seems better than NBC's (at least last year's NBC... I haven't tried this year's partly b/c of paywall) 2. Nelson owes AMN a fine dinner out of his choice, after the former had a defensive brain fart 3. That said, AMN later had one of his own, and likewise almost gifted them an equalizer 4. Thus are these 2 youngins ready for prime time??? 5. We were absolutely anemic in our conversion ability (although Giroud's sideways overhead, had it gone in, woulda been a club GOTY contender) 6. The biggest difference between the sides seemed to be pace. With the exception of Per and maybe Sanchez, I think our players oftend toasted them on the run. Good thing too... we're it not for them being slower than us, they probably would've equalized. 7. 1-0 is obviously a lame, squeaker of a result for us, and a moral victory for them. Onward! Norwich ?
2nd half was painful to watch. Clearly Arsenal weren't interested in playing in this match anymore. I don't get why Wenger played this middling strong team. Either play the kids or go for the cup. Putting someone like Sanchez in a match like this seems to be adding insult to injury.
I tend to agree with you. I was pretty shocked to see both Sanchez & Giroud starting, and then more so that they went 90! Later I heard a journo ask Wenger why he played those type players and he said he wanted to keep up the team's momentum, i.e. he didn't want to risk introducing a loss into their current string of all-winnable games. Ironically, because we couldn't put them away with all our missed chances, we seemed to me to be right on the edge of losing yesterday, or at least very very close to having to go 120 mins. To a 3rd division side no less!! OK, we didn't lose, but a 1-0 win to Doncaster, at our ground, felt a little like a loss. Will be interesting to see how we handle Pulis-ball on Monday.
