They're really not holding their own. That said we've had a few good scoring chances because PEA and Pepe are fast.
I like it too. You can see the strategy and also how often we are already offside when the CBs have the ball
Agreed and Emery has to fix the silly formation/strategy if we're going to have any chance to get a point out of this match. Turns out bunkering from minute 1 with a shoddy defense against one of the top 2 attacking squads in the Prem isn't smart. Shocker. Bunkering and then trying to play out from the back is laughably stupid.
Not so much now. Good on the ref for making that decision. Obvious foul that never gets called unless the player goes to ground. Actually calling that as a penalty discourages diving.
I don't have a real problem with the bunker. However, it seems like the plan to transition from defense to offense is non-existent. The way we're playing goal kicks is incredibly stupid. Just boot it and hope for a bit of good luck.
There's no point in playing a short goal kick if the end result of 90% of them is a defender blasting the ball upfield instead.
Honestly don't think we intended to bunker given the starting formation. Do think we intended to play a good bit of counter given we opted for PEA & Pepe up top. I'm no pro manager but I'd be inclined to take Duezy & Xhaka out at half and bring in Torreira & Laca. Go 4-3-3 with PEA & Pepe coming back to help with Robertson & Alexander.
It's worth noting that this sort of comprehensive ass-kicking results from the poor management of the club from top to bottom. Liverpool has the best management in Europe and that's why they can treat us like a second division team.
A new manager wouldn't make the difference. It's the result of 15 years of papering over the cracks until the wall is just made out of paper
Leno has the very very bad habit of having his feet in the air when the shot is struck. He's reacted late to that goal and the corner because he was hopping around
